Went there on a weeknight. Ambience is nill; it's like an old grungy diner. Only 2 other patrons there, but it still took nearly 10 minutes to get our menu and 10 minutes to get our drinks (my beer was warm). Had to ask several times for water. Food was decent (what BBQ isn't?) and not too expensive, esp the cornbread, but skip this place and go to Brother Jimmy's for UWS BBQ instead.

This is a nice place with fantastic food. The service can be a bit laid-back, so if you are in an uptight-NY-poodle kind of mood, you might just want to try elsewhere. We always find the service very friendly, the food is outstanding (particularly the baby back ribs and pulled pork), with great sides. The only problem is the dishes are a bit on the expensive side, and the portions way too big for one meal... be prepared to take some home with you. Very good red velvet cake!

Have eaten and ordered from R&S many times. This place has great tasting food, hands down. The ineptitude and sloth-like manner of service in addition to customer treatment that is full of attitude (especially when one inquires to the inconsistency of operating hours) cancels out the cuisine to make it nothing more than a MEDIOCRE local joint. If they worked on customer service, this would be a GREAT restaurant.

In short, mediocre food, slow delivery (over an hour), unapologetic service.

The atmosphere is not so great. The lights are too bright and there is no music playing. The service is terrible. Our waiter took our order, brought our drinks, someone else brought out our food and no one checked on us until we had to hail the waiter down for the check. The collard greens were bitter, they were out of green beans, the macaroni and cheese was hard and tated like cardboard. The ribs were delicious though as was the bread. I samples the pulled pork off my friends plate and it was good, and my other friend said her chicken wings were good. If I do eat the food again, it will be take-out.

In the last 3 weeks, I have ordered the pulled pork on at least 8 occasions. Delicious. It does not disappoint. A friend had the fried chicken which was da*ned tasty as well. My only complaint is that sometimes they have run out of sauce, or asparagus, or green beans, or the actual pulled pork. But frankly, the food is so good, the portions so generous, and the people who work there so nice . . . I just don't care.

I've gone to this restaurant a half dozen times now. I love the Ribs & pulled pork. The sides are excellent too. Broccoli comes steamed to perfection in large crowns. The collardas are spicey & have chunks of pork in them. The biscuits are yummy too. The portions are very large and the prices low for what you get. You will likely have some great leftovers. Rack & Soul is really one of my favorite restaurants. The service is friendly and the place is clean. I just wish I lived closer to the place.
