Best BBQ in town
As a city boy with texas heritage, I have always longed for a reliable BBQ place. Anyone worth their opinion knows that most BBQ restaurants are hacks, but will do if you need some BBQ sauce on stuff. This place is the BEST. Their ribs are so good I ended up ordering them 3 days in a row. 3 DAYS! I'm so happy to have found this place. All of their proteins are stellar (ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings, etc). The sides are a bit less impressive, but certainly aren't bad. I've suggested this place to all my friends. And now I'm writing this review (which I never do) specifically to encourage more people to go here. The best.

Disappointing take out experience
Ordered 2 pulled pork platters, fried shrimp po boy and crawfish tails for lunch at 12:20. Traveled from 56th to 109th to get food - arrive and are told that 5 minutes earlier - 15 minutes since ordering our food - there was no pulled pork. Hmm..Ok - make it a grilled chicken and another fried shrimp and a side order of mac and cheese. We wait and Wait and finally get our food and get home 1 hour after ordering - and despite being charged $3.95 for the mac and cheese? Not in the bag. I call and he remembers me and says - "I forgot your mac and cheese." "Yup" "Where are you?" "56th." - Oh... well I can give you credit for one, or two! Now really - what does that do for me 50 blocks away and a baby who eats mac and cheese for lunch with no food?

One of the Best
We had eaten at Rack and Soul some months back with our son, his wife and their 14 month old daughter, and it was terrific. So Sunday we tried take out - I went from 56th ST to 110th to order and take out. OMG - despite a large private party going on and the bar area covered with platters of BBQ, wings, potato salad, slaw, beans, etc. the service was immediate, and the portions? My wife and I each got the pulled pork platter with two sides. The pork was fantastic - lean, moist, tender and wonderfully flavored BBQ with none of the fat we have gotten from other BBQ locations. I covered 1/2 my 10" dinner plate at home with BBQ, 1/4 with beans and mac and cheese and had some of my wife's slaw. We had the equivalent of one full rectangular container of BBQ left over, and some of the sides and we were satiated. Generous portions, delicious food, great service. Can't comment on delivery service, but picking it up myself? Highly recommended. Best BBQ we have had in the city.

Better In than Out
Recently had R&S delivered....not good....ribs were the only thing that held up ok but the fried chicken was tasteless and dry, the sides - mashed potatoes and cole slaw were bland and unseasoned. The pulled pork was unfortunately the biggest disappointment - dry and tasteless. Not sure if it was the lack of fat or the limited infusion of rub/sauce but desperate;y needed the side of BBS on it....by contract the two meals I have had there were pretty good.

Tasty food and big portions
I've never ordered delivery from here, so I'm not sure if some of the harsh reviews here have a basis in reality. However, I have eaten here several times and never had a bad meal. Every customer gets two hot, sweet biscuits to start off. The combo platter (especially at lunch) is the best deal I think. You get two meats and 2 sides, and the portions are huge! Last time I went I had the pulled pork and ribs with collard greens and yams. The collard greens especially were braised really well and had a great flavor. Even though the ribs weren't "fall off the bone," they tasted great and the smokiness of the pulled pork went together nicely with the sweetness of the yams. If you go for lunch, then you can usually get your food in about 5-10 minutes after ordering, and the one time I went for dinner it took about 20 minutes. You should definitely give this place a try if you want a good, satisfying meal.

Never again!
We ordered from here tonight b/c we do love the food - and we ordered on the early side b/c they tend to take long to deliver. However, when over an hour passed and still no food, we called to see what happened. They were rude, didn't offer anything, and couldn't tell us when our food would be here. At an hour and half, we canceled the order b/c it was just too late! I will never order from here again.

Delicious
We absolutely love this place. The beef ribs, the crawfish and the catfish are our favorites. The atmosphere isn't fantastic, they keep it way too bright. But we get delivery all the time and it's the best BBQ we've found in NY.
