Good food but do not get delivery!
Today for the second time, I was told delivery from Rachel's would take an hour, after an hour and a half I called and they claimed the delivery guy came and no one was here (untrue). 20 minutes later he redelivered a cold burrito and the side of guacamole was open and all over the inside of the bag, and the people on the phone hung up on me. I like the food a lot but definitely do not recommend delivery!

Good flavor!
I was hesistant to try this restaurant because I am against restaurants who called themselves Mexican, and are fake. And this is by no means a MEXICAN Taqueria, but it is a Cal-Mex restaurant and they make sure to inform you about this on their menu. The ambiance is very cool and laid-back. On a Saturday evening, we got seated right away. They give you chips and "American version" salsa (it not hot, tastes like tomatoes) which was pretty good. I tried their Coconut Margarita and it didn't dissappoint me! Next I tried their Steak Fajitas and it was very delicious. It had a delicious "sazon", (flavor in English) and it came with 2 corn tortillas, rice, beans, guacamole, and picadillo on the side. It filled me up! My bf had a chicken quesdilla and couldn't finish it all, but did say it was good. The portions are generous! The service was good, just that at the end, the waitress forgot to bring my bf his 2nd beer; but it was not a big deal since we were not in a rush. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, do not go there. But if you want tex-mex or cal-mex food, then I would definitely recommend.

Nice atmosphere, ok food, bummer service
Nice looking place, which now we have found, is pretty much all they have going for them. The food wasn't anything better than what you can make at home and they didn't have hot green sauce. The biggest bummer though was I got a drink spilled on me, then they forgot to bring extra napkins, and to top it off: they never comped it. I don't get it- if restaurants want to have returning customers (especially in this neighborhood) they got to hook it up. Rachel's didn't.

delivery when they feel like it
They deliver when they feel like it, and are rude when they don't. The last time I called, they said delivery would be an hour like the previous poster said, but the food was here in 30 minutes... missing a few items, and priced higher than the menu. I called just now, and again, they wouldn't deliver. I'm done with rachels.

It USED to be a great place but...
not so much anymore. The happy hour margheritas, at 2 for 1, were amazing! But then they cut the deal to buy one, get the second one at half price. Ok, still not so bad. Then they were full price, and on top of that they skimp on how much they pour....it used to be a full glass, now there is LOTS of room at the top. Too bad, it was really awesome. The food is still quite good.

Frustrating Delivery Policy
I'm very much a regular at Rachel's for eat-in and take-out. Tonight I called for delivery and was told in a very blase way that there was no delivery. First the woman who answered the phone said, "Oh, sorry, but delivery will take an hour," as if she expected that to end the conversation. When I said that was okay, she put me on hold, then a man came on the phone and said there was no delivery at all. Huh? It's Saturday night, I'm sure they're busy (I assume, as I was given no further explanation), but I'm hungry and they are supposed to deliver. I'm kind of pissed. I definitely felt disrespected and like they could care less. Too bad because the food is actually decent. But maybe they're no longer my favorite Mexican place in the 'hood.

like a needy ex-girlfriend
I've been going to Rachel's since they opened. They have some really nice items on the menu... but I've had sooo many problems with them that it's hard to keep going back. I've been overcharged several times. I've had several delivery orders missing items. I've had them agree to bring the items that were missing, and never show up. I've asked on occasion for no cheese, or no pico, and had the request ignored. And on top of it, I've had the girl argue with me several times when I've mentioned problems. Nothing like being shouted at over the phone when they forget to send your tacos "They were in there, you're lying" It's the little things Rachel, it's the little things. It's too bad really, because they make a nice fish taco. And the vibe is nice there even since they made it more of a sitdown place... But it's so hard to keep giving them my money when older, more traditional spots like Tacos Nuevo Mexico keep their prices low and serve up great stuff without an attitude.
