    I'm going back to Ethiopia!

I am from Ethiopia and fortunately am returning for excellent food. Sheba was a scam. Overhyped, overated, and disappointing gastronomically and experientially.

    Favourite Restaurant in NYC

I´ve been there a few times and it´s one of my favourite restaurants in the world. Love that food! Whenever I am in the US, and visit NYC, I do my best to visit it. I´ve always had very good service when there, it´s always crowded, which makes the servers not give you full attention, but are always very kind to you, even when it´s your first time and you have loads of questions about the food. I recommend it!

    Not recommended

The reviewer who wrote that the service was inexcusable is right on the money. I cannot believe how rude these servers are. The owners are worse. You cannot get away with that kind of service in NYC and the food isn't even good! I came out of Queen of Sheba swearing off Ethiopian food.

    Loud, crowded, ok food

The place was extremely loud, the tables crowded, and the food could've been better but it was not too bad. The service was very fast though. It was so crowded that they asked if i had a reservation, but the wait time was short anyway.

    Service is INEXCUSABLE; go elsewhere

The food was okay, nothing to rave about. The service was not good at all. They snapped at us for asking for something as simple as water. This was our first ethiopian experience so we asked to start with a platter and they got annoyed that we weren't ordering more. After we tried the combo platter, we picked what we liked and ordered more of that. You'd think they'd be happy we were ordering more but no. They got angry that we were extending our order after the fact. This is not an uncommon thing to do at restaurants and usually they're happy to accomodate. Then when we asked for change for our bill the waitress got angry and said-- there's no tip included in the bill. We explained that we knew that we just didn't have any change on us so if she gave us change we could leave the appropriate tip. She delayed getting it for us. Service here is INEXCUSABLE. My friend was actually apologetic for suggesting this restaurant.

    Flat bread ruined my meal.

I thought the flat bread served with the meal ruined the flavor of the dishes. I ordered both the veggie and the meat sampler. I agree as many have stated that much of the food was bland. But some of the dishes were spicy and enjoyable before the flat bread flavor overpowers everything. Must be an acquired taste. We left most of the food and left and had a slaw dog at Papaya King. Yum
