Amazing ambience plus steak!
I am a big steak eater and always trying new spots. This one was one of the best in NYC. The restaurant is so beautifully set up and perfect for small or large groups. The service was excellent. We had someone coming over to give us every little thing we needed - sauces, bread, the right forks, etc. It was a Monday night and the place was packed so I can imagine that on weekends things could possibly get a little nutty in here. And the food - the Bone in Sirloin was heaven! The beautiful homemade steak sauce was a perfect blend of spices and essence. In addition, the creamed spinach and blooming mushrooms were a treat. To top it off the Sticky Toffee Cake was to die for. I will go here again & again & again & again...

...Not so good
The service kind is poor. The food runner is way better than the waiter, the managers are just looking lost in the center of the dinning room I finish my meal 10 minutes ago and my plate still looking @ me, the Rib Steak not so good, the Lobster was missing butter, the bread was too salty, the grill potatoes too greasy, the oysters delicious that was the bright part of the evening, I'm still here waiting for dessert and hoping is good.

Great Dinner, Great Food, Great Time
I eat out alot and always check reviews of restaurants before I go - I am always interested to see what the people who frequent places think first-hand, which is why I wanted to write this review. I tried Quality Meats this week for dinner and must say I was very, very happy with the overall experience. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful - made some great suggestions on sides, apps, dinner choices. I had the 3 filet choice as my entre and it was cooked the way steak should be. And lets just say I eat MUCHO steak - more than my arteries really appreciate - I order it, I eat it, I cook it, I grill it - and I have had plenty of bad steak in my day. This was not of that category. It was nice to be able to appreciate good food and enjoy the experience of it. The baked oyster appetizer was amazing. The creamed spinach was to DIE for. The Quality Potato was this twice baked yummy heap - we couldn't even make a dent. I wish I had room for dessert but that was a no go. I would absolutely suggest this to a friend to try, and go back myself. It was Quality as far as I was concerned. I'll put this on the list of Great Steak experiences. That list is getting shorter every time I look at it!

"Un" Quality Meats
I think I have eaten at just about every well known steak restaurant in the city, so it was time to finally add Quality Meats to my list. Arrived with my son and daughter-in-law, hungry and ready to eat a great steak meal. Things started off promising - wonderful decor/ambiance (a bit on the dark side, though) noise level was high, but not too intrusive as to prevent having a conversation - Very friendly staff.... we loved our large table tucked in an alcove on the 2nd level. Good bread, drinks and very helpful sommelier - I was happy! (demerits, tho, for having to ask for more water) Great salads, soup, oysters & large shrimp (we order a lot of food!!)...followed by delicious sides including corn brulee, creamed spinach (just ok) great parmesan waffle fries - We're thinking - so far, so good - great, even ........Well, not for long ......Alas, then the steaks came out, and things went downhill! My sirloin was cold - sent it back, and when I finally got it, and took a bite - it was tough, fatty and chewy - even with the large steak knife, I had to saw away - it was on the small side, too. My son ordered the bone-in rib eye steak - came out rare, when he ordered it medium - so, that went back, too......Daughter-in-law's 3 fillets were supposed to be (according to the waitress) "pink" inside well, they were gray! She chose not to send her dish back. There is nothing that ruins a meal more, in my opinion, than having to send food back. When that happens, everyone winds up eating at different times, and the flow of the meal is disturbed. There was no excuse for all 3 dishes to have problems. Quality meats should have better quality control! Our waitress did bring out new (hot) orders of the corn and spinach , but, under the circumstances, I wouldn't expect less from any reputable restaurant. When told of our displeasure with the "meat", the waitress sent over the manager. She was pleasant - said she was sorry, and would "look into it". "Looking into it" ultimately meant they didn't charge us for the 2 desserts we ordered (but did charge for the 1 coffee my son ordered - I thought that was chintzy). Two free desserts don't make up for ruined steaks. Truthfully, any restaurant that calls itself "Quality Meats" should make sure EVERY steak ordered is cooked to perfection. That, unfortunately, wasn't what we experienced, and based on that, what started out with great potential, turned out to be a major disappointment.

Amazing!!
Best steak house I have been to in NYC. We actually just made our Thanksgiving dinner reservation here we enjoy this place so much. From the appetizers to deserts and everything in between, Quality Meats is fine dining at it's best. The environment is semi-casual and very comfortable. The food was some of the best I have ever had. Drinks were amazing, service was great, sundaes for desert were the best I've ever had. On the pricey end so not somewhere the "average Joe" can frequent but by far my favorite special treat in Midtown!

Fabulous!
I love going to Quality Meats every time I'm in NYC. A must have is the corn creme brûlée! You will never have anything like it. The steaks are amazing as is the wine list. I recommend it to everyone at least once, but you'll be back.

If only I were a diva
I too would have a complaint with this place. Its been months, and I still have dreams of the beef tartare. The service, I did remember as efficient and friendly, but it was quite welcomed. This place is a little pricey, but it is worth every penny.
