everything is good, service might be too casual...
I went two weeks ago to celebrate an anniversary. The food was good, and the ambiance-better. The restuarant is beautiful overall-very romantic. The best value dish in the whole restaurant is the marrow appetizer- you must get it-it is only $9 and good. they give you two pieces of marrow that is chock-full, and ample amount of accoutrements, and the taste is as good as bone marrow gets. We also ordered the scallop, and hamachi appetizers, which were around $15, but not nearly as good as the marrow. I ordered the lobster cocktail as an entree, bc I'm pretty dainty eater, and because the restuarant only offers lobster by 4 lb increments with a two person minimum- it was okay, what more could you ask for from a lobster cocktail? it was not pricey- i was expecting only tail for that price, but surprised that I got the whole lobster. My date had the bone in rib eye- and it was as tasty as it was aesthetically pleasing. The long rib bone was left in and neatly frenched. The meat was tender and seasoned just right. Wine selection was good. They came over to make some sort of tableside steak sauce-which ended up a bizarre concoction of what tasted like raw canned tomatoes and worcheshire sauce-they might need to work on that a little more. The whole meal, with a couple drinks, and glasses of wine was about $300 for two including tip. Someone mentioned that the servers referred to them as 'hey guys' and they didn't know quite how to feel about it. I laughed when i read that, because I too thought that the service was oddly too casual for such a high end establishment. One of the many waitresses who served us that night, at one point of the evening told me to pick up the rib eye bone and suck on it.

Best Steak in Town
Quality is hands down the best steakhouse that I have been to in NYC. The green goddess salad, cheese gnocchi are to die for! I always order the filet, medium rare and it melts in your mouth. The service is always impeccable. It is pricey, but worth every penny. Whenever my friend and I have a bit of extra cash or want to treat ourselves, this is where we go. I have been to Luger's and Dylan Prime and wasn't anywhere near as satisfied. Love the decor as well!

please shave the hipster facial hair
Hipster facial hair aside.. You won't find a better steak for the price. Please bring back the Saeurbraten. This place is great From service to food to value.

Very nice steak house
highly suggest the rib steak (aka tomahawk steak), had great char and seasoning. Other sides like pan-fried potatoes and creamed spinach were excellent. Like it couldn't get any better, the desserts were very well done. All around quality at Quality Meats, and much better than their parent company S&W.

What was I getting?
I have been on subways during rush hour that are less crowded. The place is packed so tight the waiters can barely squeeze past tables without disturbing the patrons. The food was good, but I am not sure I like to be addressed as "hey guys" by overly familiar waiters either. For a place that charges as much as it does I had expected more that just good meat but an overall great dining experience.

Great Steak, miniscule portions
The steak here is great- cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth. The appetizers and sides on the other hand are teeny tiny. For instance, a salad we ordered was nothing more then a few greens sprinkled around some walnuts- artistic but left us hungry. Go, but stick with the steaks.

Great lunch spot!
I went for lunch with a friend and the overall experience was just fantastic. First off, the decor is great. The service was just what you expect from a Manhattan restaurant, attentive, but not overbearing. The scallops with grapes and walnuts were to die for and my steak was cooked perfectly (which unfortunately is not something you can always count on, even in NYC steakhouses). I will definitely be back.
