My oh my, what great Thai!

I was really in the mood for some Pad Thai with shrimp, and Qi Bangkok did not disappoint! I ordered carry out lunch special, and waited at the bar while my food was prepared. The place has non-traditional decor, which I thought was fun. My wait was short, which was another plus. I ordered a salad as the appetizer, nice fresh lettuce, and plenty of dressing. The Pad Thai noodles were just as yummy as I had hoped! I also asked for some dry spices on the side so I could control the amount of heat, which they happily put in my carry out bag. The best part was that the shrimp were cooked properly, not chewy, just sweet, mild and delicious! Do I recommend this place? You betcha.

    Overall-great thai restaurant

Suprisingly good restaurant in the middle of the theater district. Really large, bright space with good ambience. Food was pretty good too. Try the mojitos.

    Mediocre experience

Went there for dinner with a friend last night. The good: -Space is beautiful and HUGE, with good ambiance. -Dish presentation is great and service is swift -Desserts were really good. The bad: -Everything was fresh, but bland. None of the dishes had a bite and the taste was quiet forgettable. Sour/sweet prevailed, and not much of anything else. I ordered duck panang curry and it was very bland. -Service - while swift, it was poor. Our entries were brought 2 minutes after the appetizers and since the table size was small, there was literally no room for all the plates - plus the entries got cold while we finished the first course. I would not go back there.

    Good food, bad everything else

The pad thai I got was very good. I saw their hours were until 1:00 AM, and I got there around 11:45 PM, and from the hostess at the door until I got my meal, every time I saw someone, they told me the kitchen was closing "in 10 minutes." By the time my food came a little after 12 (almost an hour before their advertised closing time), the kitchen was closed, the bar was closed, and everyone was cleaning up as the place emptied out. So don't believe they're open late; that just means they won't forcibly kick you out right away. The terrible club music was beyond obnoxiously loud. After they brought my dish and nothing to eat it with (having taken my silverware with the appetizer dish), I literally yelled to the server for chopsticks, and he either ignored me or couldn't hear me over the noise. It was also hot in there; despite being the middle of January, I had to strip down to short sleeves to not sweat (and that wasn't because of the food, which wasn't hot at all).

    Just what I wanted

For Christmas I bought tickets for myself, mom, sister and sister in-law to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. Part of that gift also included dinner after the show. I was looking for something different, close by, and affordable. This place was above and beyond all of those descriptions! The atmosphere was unique and cultured. The servers were friendly, and constantly refilling your beverages(my cup was never empty). We ordered the food and it came out in a matter of minutes. The food was delicious. All four of us ate well for under $50. You can not complain about that price in Time Square.

Is there a better lunch value in NYC?

The quality-to-value ratio is off-the-charts amazing. This the best value in Times Square, by a long shot. The quality of the food is a cut above most other Thai restaurants in the city -- and the lunch special ($7.95 for chicken pad thai -- or any other Thai standard -- and a delicious appetizer) is incredible. The restaurant itself is very clean and bright -- great for a business or casual lunch, both. They also do a great job with delivery, with everything packed neat and clean. Kudos to the owners and staff.
