Extremely Accommodating, Even For 15
Pylos was able to accommodate my party of 15 in full comfort. The food and service were excellent and the atmosphere could not have been more enjoyable.

Authentic, delicious food
Our dinner here was absolutely perfect. The waiter recommended a fantastic Greek wine, the appetizers arrived rapidly, the mains were cooked to perfection and the dessert was absolutely heavenly. The haloumi cheese and artichoke moussaka are must-haves. Highly recommended!

Authentic, Inexpensive, Relaxing...
Being Greek (I lived in Greece until I was 25) I can reassure you that the restaurant serves authentic Greek food with a twist. The food is delicious (especially the appetizers) and the wine selection is great. Save room for the dessert, because the "galaktobourekakia" will make your day :-) I have found myself visiting this restaurant 4 times within the last month, and I do not even live in the neighborhood. I have taken there my American friends, and they love it. Did I also mention that it is inexpensive? I do not understand why they have the $$$$ at Menupages.... For a company of 4, we ordered 3 bottles of wine, 8 appetizers, 2 entrees, and dessert, and the bill was not more than $50/person (incl. tax and 18% tip)...

Opa!
The wait is worth it. The food is delish. Great for big parties because you can share EVERYTHING. The hostesses had attitude, but that, unfortunately, has become "normal" in NYC. Besides, the food makes up for it tenfold.

My Favorite
Pylos is my absolute favorite restaurant in NYC. I was joined by 9 friends and family for my birthday there, including my father and god parents who are long time New Yorkers and incredibly pretentious diners. The three of them concluded it was one of the best meals they have had in NYC, and that it was worth the treck from UES. The staff was unbelieveably friendly and attentive. The owner came and introduced himself. We asked him to bring an assortment of their dishes for us and they hit it perfectly. The waitress went out of her way to find the wine I had tried on a previous occassion for us- which is delicious. The entire meal from appetizers to desserts was outstanding. The atmosphere is so lovely and warm. Always a great experience, absolutely reccommended.

Honesty
In answer to "cwar" posting. The least you can do is be honest. Not only you ate everything but you took the leftover with you. Yes, we did not have all items on the menu that night since it was the first night we were open after summer vacation, which we explained to you. At PYLOS everything we cook is extremely fresh. We would also like to thank all our customers that do appreciate our efforts and MenuPages for allowing the other side of the story to be shared as well. Thank you all! PYLOS Management
