I recently had a bachelorette party of 7 here and the overall experience at pylos was amazing. our waiter was very attentive and table service was top notch. the triple dips and beet appetizer were tasty followed by my favorite-duck. tender and perfectly cooked. this was a great place for our large group.

Coming from a Greek family I'm a big critic of Greek restaurants. Pylos is by far the best Greek restaurant in Manhattan. The fish is very fresh and the side dishes are amazing. I've lived on Greek food all my life and this place reminds me of my mother's home cooking. True it is a bit cramped but the food is well worth it.

Let me start by saying I love this restaurant- have been going here for years. Food is excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. However, i feel compelled to post, after a recent trip due to the rude service. The hostess was extremely brusque when we arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation, despite the fact that there were empty tables in the place. After returning about 20 minutes later, (only to find the same several tables empty), we were offered a seat at the wine bar, to wait for our table. We sat there for 30+ minutes, and they didn't even comp the wine. Then to top it all off the waitress acted like she had some place better to be, and pushed us to order 5 minutes after we sat down. I know its a small restaurant, but it seemed like they were unprepared to handle the numerous groups of 6+ in the restaurant that night and were scrambling in order to get several empty tables in a row to accomodate the larger parties at the expense of the smaller parties. The waitress on the other hand had no excuse, she was just rude. Really put me off the place.

Good service, good food. Pylos combines a warm, toned down Mediterranean atmosphere with delicious ethnic food and friendly, attentive staff. Pick an appetizer and an entree, or do it tempanadas style and make a meal of various mezethes. A nice wine selection, delicious pita bread and cute dish and glassware that make everything you eat with them taste even better, this place has character. The horiatiki is especially fresh and tasty. Bring someone special, or grab a group and go for the "bar" in the back.

You must go here. Best Greek food I have had outside of Greece :). The wine wasn't amazing, but I loved everything we had. AMAZING Duck...you must try. Be sure to get a reservation as the place fills quickly even on week nights.

Other places just broil fresh fish with lemon and think it is a big gift to diners. Pylos is the REAL Deal. This food is amazing. rustic greek cusine. Well thought out, fresh ingredients and different spice blends. Do not miss the tasting of eggplant, taramosalata, & yoghurt. Also the light and fluffy meatballs. Soft, frgrant and divine. Try the yoghurt honey and spoon fruit desert This place is pure heaven .

I frequent this restaurant at least once a week. They always try to accommodate me and have squeezed me & friends in w/o reservations. They do it with a smile and yes sometimes have to put a cap on your meal time if they offer you a table that someone has a reservation for (you make that choice to stay or not). This restaurant has a great bar to enjoy a meal & a glass a wine after work. The Food is Amazing-Always! I love, love, love the Lambchops. I've tried the fish, lambshank, and the salads are unbelievably fresh. Everything I've tried has been Yummy and seasoned perfectly. You can have a great meal with great ambience without breaking the bank here. This restaurant is one of those Diamonds in the Rough. I'm glad that they are in close proximity to my own business and even if they weren't I'd go out of my way to have a meal at Pylos.
