I am Greek and the food my boyfriend and I ordered from Pylos reminded me of the big family gatherings I went to when I was little. Try the Taramousalata: a fluffy Greek classic. The pita was hot and soft and the woman who took my delivery order was incredibly kind and helpful. Some of the best delivery I've had in the East Village, Mediteranean or otherwise.

Went here on a Sunday Night. Arrived early, technically before they opened. Hostess said they don't open till 5, but said we could sit anywhere we wanted. She sat us down with our menus, water, pita and hummus like dip. I don't know when the place technically opened, because we received very attentative service from our waiter and busboy from that point on. My girlfriend and I had the greek meatballs which were the best I have ever had. The dolmatas, in an creamy egg sauce or something like that, a villager greek salad, and the lamb shank. Everything was very good. My only complaint was, that we wanted the chicken with the olives, and feta, and the waiter said he was just told he that they didn't have that dish that night. Decorations were nice, the greek pots above made the place look very cool. I would go here again. I'm just not in the neighborhood very often since I live in Long Island. By the way, I decided to go to this restaurant based on the reviews I found on this website.

Pylos is a total gem. The atomsphere is romantic and fresh (Elijah Wood seemed to like it the night I saw him there), and the food has a REAL homemade taste to it, but you can also tell the ingredients are top quality. Prices really can't be beat, everything is so reasonably priced. The Greek wines are tasty, and the staff, though sometimes a bit overwhelmed, are generally very friendly. We've been many times and really love the place.

May be the best Greek restaurant in city. Food is great, service makes you feel comfortable and relaxed, wine list is not that rich but is very unique (also try the Greek beer). Place is great for quite dining for two as well as for family events.

Thumbs up on the food and the atmosphere. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Our server was very nice and pleasant but he did not come to our table except to take our order and to drop food off. And it wasn't because they were stretched thin and were extremely busy. AND, it wasn't just our server...the water guys along with servers just "hung" out against the wall while we were conspicously waving them down. We practically had to beg for the dessert menu. The food is yummy enough that we will go back but the management needs to recognize the need for better service. As for the prices, it's fair but then again, you are paying up a bit for the atmosphere.

By far, the best Greek restaurant in Manhattan! Being a Athens-borned Greek myself, I had enough of the so-called Greek (bastardized) restaurants. At last, I can now take my American friends and taste what real Greek food is all about. The interior is very Medet. chic, the service is super friendly and the food is to die for. As far as the prices, unmbeliavable inexpensive. A not-to miss restaurant (does my review sounds like an informercial?:-)
