love it/hate it
yes, the portions are small. but as vegans, my spouse & i left very full. the choices are exotic --- i have no qualms about the food. it is extraordinary. the prices? i understand what goes into creating these food items --- aint easy. requires time. still, overpriced. the waitstaff needs to get a life. or a boyfriend. or a new job.

Poor and good
The atmosphere is realy nice if you are in the garden, but extrimely noisy inside with very loud music. I liked first courses , but didn't like the second courses at all , they are too nutty and dense. When I think of raw food I think of much lighter food with more interesting flavours though.

Inventive but expensive and minimal portions
Food quality and service is very good. Room is attractive and comfortable but it can be very noisy. Menu is indeed interesting but why does raw food have to be so expensive and why do the portions have to be so meager. If you order 3 entrees, you will have one normal portion and the same goes with the other menu items. And desert is between $15-19. My wife, who is 110 pounds, and I went home and made ourselves sandwiches after spending $125 on dinner. Absurd.

Too expensive and over-processed
I love, cook, and eat vegan and gluten-free food. In addition, I appreciate the value of raw vegetables and nuts. However, I was very disappointed by this restaurant. The food is REALLY over-processed and dense, and it just sat in my stomach for 24 hours afterwards. I am not clear on why all the fresh vegetables and nuts need to be put in a food processor at this place? In addition, the flavors were overwhelming due to the high density. It was difficult to eat. The atmosphere was nice (especially considering most vegan restaurants) and the service was friendly. However, the prices are outrageously high (remember: vegetables and nuts only), and the food is totally bizarre. I wanted to love this place so badly! And, unfortunately, it just did not work at all.

Quite good!
Food was delicious, inventive, and tasted exquisitely fresh. I was expecting portions to be incredibly small due to the other user comments, and although I do agree that the appetizers were not quite big enough to adequately share (especially for the price), the entrees were definitely agreed to be a satisfying portion for our party. The prices are indeed on the higher side of moderate, but I think they are justified for the level of freshness and ingenuity of their dishes. Recommended!

Sophisticated people will like this restaurant.
I'm not a snob. And this place is really expensive. But it's a NYC treasure. Anyone with appreciation for high level aesthetic experiences will really appreciate this place.

The poorest restaurant by value in NYC!
My friend recommended this incredibly noisy restaurant that claims Pure Food...it may be pure but whether is edible food is an open question. She and I shared two starters, two mains and two deserts. My friend had a cold sake and I had a smoothie shake at $14. This meal s indisputably the poorest food for the highest price $145 plus a tip of $25...Forget the hype...the emperor has no clothes! Take a pass!
