    Go where the cabbies go!!!

I was craving Punjabi food and decided to use Menu Pages & found this wonderful place. My hubby ( a die hard fan of Punjabi food) said this is the best Punjabi food he has had since coming to the US. The men at the counter were really friendly and attentive. The food is custom made to suit each individual (since I love spicy and my hubby prefers medium spicy they made our dishes to suit our tastes-- LOVE THAT!!!) The place is not much to look at but you can tell that the food is going to be great just by the people who come there---THE CABBIES..my theory is that cabbies always crave authentic 'home cooked' taste and if you see an Indian place that cabbies frequently go to then the place must be good..and this holds true for Desi Junction..so if you thought the highlight for Indian food was Jackson Diner in Queens then think again..I will be going back soon.

Here's a Hint!!! Go Where the Cabbies R

My hubby LOVES Punjabi food and since his arrival in NYC he claims he hasn't had decent Punjabi food. Desi Junction changed his mind!! What the place lacks in atmosphere they more than make up in food. We ordered the Malai Kofta and Veg Jalfrezi (MK was better but both were good)..Since we live in Queens we decided to take our food home but while we were wating we noticed that most of the customers were cabbies..there's the hint!!! Indian cab drivers usually crave home style cooking so if the restaurant you go to is packed with cabbies, chances are the food is AUTHENTIC!!! I wish there was a Desi Junction in Queens so that we wouldn't have to suffer from the so called 'Indian' restaurants of Jackson Heigts!!! I rambled but bottom line is that the food is FANTASTIC and service is GOOD!!!

Best Vegetarian/Vegan Indian Food in NYC

My wife and I have tried all of the Indian restaurants in Hell's Kitchen that deliver, and this is by far the best, especially if you are vegetarian (she's vegetarian and I am vegan). The food is clean, lovingly prepared and tastes wonderfully homemade. We asked for the dishes to contain no dairy, and they accommodated our requests without hesitation. They offer dishes with tofu instead of Paneer (Indian cheese), and will make dishes without the usual dairy and ghee. Their Garlic Naan is the best we have ever tried in New York, bar noneÑitÕs loaded with garlic! They even have a dish made with textured vegetable protein called Special Soybean (not certain if the meat substitute is soy-based, but they think it is), and it is fantasticÑvery flavorful. The ambience of the place is not fancy, but you can sit there if youÕre in the neighborhood, although we always do take-out. In our experience, delivery isn't fast, but we are certainly willing to wait a little for such high-quality food. All in all, this is our favorite Indian restaurant in NYC!

Desi Junction - You are the BEST !

This is "THE BEST" place for Indian food that one can find in the tri-state area. The place primarily caters to the north Indian palate - and "WOW" should say its the REAL Indian food - easy on your stomach... and on your pocket as well! We first tried the food after a friend recommended the place... and not only have we stuck to Desi Junction for months now... we have also introduced a few of our other friends to the place. And believe me, one wouldn't be disappointed at all. The place may not have the best ambience... but who cares as long as its neatly maintained and serves such delicious food. And kudos should go to the chef ('Aunty') who makes such wonderful food. Its like just eating home-cooked food, way back in our country. Reminds me of my mom !! :-) If you are a working couple or single or a family, you could even choose to order your food regularly from here. We wish the Desi Junction team all success and urge them to keep up the great standards. That's your USP.

    The Best

I have never found an Indian restaurant that made Okra until I found Desi Junction. They make this dish along with many others homestyle, just like my mom makes it. We order from here at least once a week.

    Great Food. Home Cooked!!

The best food I have had in New York. Simple, low in oils, clean, like home cooked food, plus the rates are reasonable. Doesn't hurt your pocket. I have made it a point to eat here as ofen as I can. Great for take out. Speak to Atul if you have any problem he's a very helpful guy. I will keep going back...
