I have been to this restaurant several times and it is because the food is as authentic as it can get in NYC. Unless of course you travel to India. My family is into Punjabi food and they always insist on take out from Desi Junction. We travel from Queens for this!

The Food is really good. The service is quick. The closest I have come to have Home cooked Punjabi Food. Highly recommend it.

I totally disagree with mike. This food is home cooked. and for 6 dollars for 3 vegetable dishes, rice/roti/naan how could you go wrong?? it is NOT oily at all, much healthier than other indian restaurants!

I recently have been craving veggie Indian food. I wanted some at lunch and I work in midtown west. I went to desi junction and it looked like a dump but i had ordered over the phone and was there to pick it up. anyway the food was very oily and they said it comes with basmati rice but it was really just white rice. wouldnt go back again

My colleagues and I have been dependent on restaurants since the past four years. We have tried Indian food at various restaurants in the Tri-state area and a few times in Chicago and California. We hit upon Desi Junction about two years back and have been their patrons ever since. The food is awesome (though at times it gets a little spicy for a normal palate like mine... but my friends have no complaints!) . Apart from the very affordable prices, the highlight is the delicious food freshly made and served hot ! The place gets quite crowded towards late evenings, so the waiting time gets a little longer (approx. 10 mins). I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to eat 'Good North Indian Food'. The only problem is that our office is a little far away and they deliver food only upto a few blocks around. But, we don't mind going over for some great food.

For the past year I loved this place for the authentic, delicious food... as for the service and atmosphere, it didn't matter because it's kind of a casual place tailored to the cabbies. For delivery, take out or quick bite, it was the best in town...except for the past couple of months! What happened? Every single time I or friends have ordered, it's been WATERY, yes watered down raita, subzi, daal, you name it. The tamarind rice tastes the same as the biryani rice... and both taste bad. The breads are OK though... not sure if their cook left or if we've ordered on off nights. I think I'll be going for the more expensive options around from now on, sadly!

I've been living in midtown west for the past two years and have been disappointed by the Indian restaurants I visited in the area. By chance, I discovered Desi Junction last week, while searching menupages for indian restaurants. It is simply one of the best indian places I've been to in the city - the food is fresh, delicious, and tastes home-made with very little oil. I've tried a number of things including spinach rice, rajma, karela, chana saag and alu parathas.... everything was soooo good! I generally don't like to eat out frequently but given how healthy and yummy the food here is, I will definitely be back. I'm so glad to have found this awesome restaurant in my neighborhood.
