love the drinks; not tried the food
Love the Blood Orange Punch and the Ginger Cosmos. Never tried the food there - have always sat right at the bar. I think their beer selection is awful. I would go for the drinks. And, the bartenders are great.

Needs work
The food is just ok. They totally overcook the turkey burger. Every time I've gone here the server forgets something we've ordered. The person who takes your order isn't necessarily the person who brings the food so they often don't know who gets what and are defensive about it. They just seem flustered and often can't tell you the ingredients of certain dishes. Just not well trained. The food? As you can tell it's not the most noticeable thing about the place. But try it. Maybe I've just had subpar experiences.

Nice atmosphere, very medicore burger
For wine and light meals, I imagine Punch is great. Nice bottle selection, albeit pricy. For dinner on the other hand, perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing. I had such high expectations for the Punch Beef Burger for $13.00. When it was served, however, the presentation was unappetizing and uninspiring. The bun tasted like squished wonderbread, nothing special, nothing gourmet. One small scrap of wilted lettuce, a tiny slice of chedder, and an almost transparent slice of tomato, were accompanied by a pathetic array of soggy french fries. Taste was forgetable and I left feeling very dissapointed. The wine was wow, but neededless to say I will not be returning for that burger. Better luck ordering something else.

Decent, not exceptional
My friend and I went here for dinner, and while the ambience is great, the one waitress seemed to be very busy with many different tables, so it was often hard for her to come by our table as often as she should have. Having said that, when she was around, she was sweet and the food was good - however, beware: the avocado/crab rolls are hot! I love spicy food and have high tolerance for it, but this was extreme and not what I expected. The salad with dijon vinaigrette was pleasant and the wine was very tasty, but I wish I had known how intense the rolls would be because I would have ordered something else. Overall, an enjoyable dining experience. Our bill came to $72 and my friend got steak and we both drank wine, so that's not so bad. I would go back, but I'd try something different.

cozy and pleasant
Not sure what others have been complaining about. Punch is a very nice find only a few blocks from Union Square. The atmosphere is cozy, the bar at the entrance inviting, and the food that I tried was simply delicious. Add to this that the price is about right considering the location and what's there to complain?

subpar service
service was not good at all. food was below average. turkey burger - salty calimari - salty kobe burger - NEVER CAME when we complained, the manager only offered to cancel our order rather than apologizing. the issue was that the waitress thought she was smart enough to not write our orders down and rely on her memory. she forgot out drink orders more than once and then obviously forgot a whole entree by confusing it with a punch burger. everybody makes mistakes but that was just ridiculous. no surprise this place was so easy to get a seat on a friday night.

Great Food & Atmosphere
Went here for lunch b/c of the location. The staff was really friendly and the food was excellent. It had typical NYC prices - nothing outrageous. The doors open out to the sidewalk so you can get the fresh air without having to sit in the sun. The appetizers/small plates were large portions but the entrees were just right. The sesame fried calamari was perfectly fried and the crab cake sandwich had just the right amount of flavor - lots of crab and only a little filling. The sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had. The dessert menu had a lot of interesting items (not the typical chocolate cake, cheesecake) but I was too full to try any.
