Very Disappointing...will definitely not be returning

on 9/25/2010, 6 of us went to Puglia for dessert and drinks during the San Gerrino festival. It was our first time eating at this restaurant, and we had high hopes for the food, service and atmosphere. Everything was a total let down. For starters, we ordered Sangria which was the most disgusting tasting drink I have ever tasted. The waiter agreed to replace it, giving as an explanation that the bar tender was drunk. Every dessert we wanted to order from their menu was "out of stoc", leaving us with slim pickings. We ordered the american cheesecake and the molten chocolate cake. The cheesecake was grocery quality at best, and the molton chocolate cake was rubbery, cold, and not baked the day it was served. We ordered a latte and mochacino, only to be told they didnt have it, 25 minutes after we ordered. What they failed to tell us was that they did have a cappucino. Dont get me started with the service, we had to keep looking for our server who often disappeared into the back room of the restaurant. He even forgot to give us our bill which was had asked for, and it was only because he saw all of us staring at him while he tucked into his dinner that he remembered he was our server. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting and dirty. Over all it was expensive and absolutely lousy, I would not ever eat here, unless you want to be out of money and have the worst possible experience in little Italy. The fried oreos I bought from one of the carts was a better value for money.

    Great place, Great food.

Took my wife and kids there for lunch 8/7/10. We loved it! Food was outstanding and the service was great. Thanks Tony! You're the best!

    Decent food, so so service

Best thing about this place is Tony; ask him to sing Sinatra for ya. Food is acceptable; house wine is good value; our service was under par although he expected a good tip.

    The point of Puglia's

For those who say they've been disappointed; perhaps you were looking for something different. Puglias, to New Yorkers, is not a place for fancy food and service. It's a place to go with a group and laugh and have fun. I've gone there with friends over the past 40 years and each time is a funny memory. The same guy plays accordion and sings; it's tacky, it's corny, it's PUGLIAS. If you are looking for fine dining or quiet - not this place. If you are looking to have a fun, memorable evening - this place will be great. Native New Yorkers already know what to and not expect from Puglias. So if you are visiting, you might want to check it out first before you go in.

    Great brick-oven pizza

As a fan of totonno in co. isl, I am fussy bout my pizza, but you all know they're closed for fire repairs. So while at the feast last week, we tried Puglia's Prosuito and tomato pizza, and we loved it. Their oven is a sight to behold, and the crust was nearly the best I've ever had. Man hattan prices are high, but they have to be, the over there, and real taxes are very high. But it's fun to be there, and worth it.
