    Superb!

This is by far one of the best restaurants in the city! I have been here both for dinner and for their amazing and undeniable wonderful brunch and every single time and every person i bring along get converted. The service is exceptional and very attentive. The food in incredibly good and their Sunday $50 Supper is unsurpassed. The dishes like the Foie Gras with french toast and the versatile lentil salad with avocados never cease to amaze me. My husband loves the lamb and the venison dishes and my daughter talks about the pork belly constantly. I don't have enough room to express my love for the desserts... I truly recommend it! Make reservations though, on busy nights the wait can be long. The music is a little loud but so is the bar scene so it's not the end of the world.

don't waste your time or money

Me and two girlfriends went here last night. The food was horrible and way overpriced. The service was rushed and not friendly. No one in the place smiled. They were annoyed we didn't want to check our bags and coats. Literally picked up our plates and we weren't even done eating. Do yourself a favor, find another place. Don't waste your money. The back wine bar is nice but the waitress was horrible and clueless.

    Brunch Experience

I've been here twice for brunch and have found that the service is consistently unpleasant. The wait was double what we were quoted and only that short because we complained. And it didn't stop there - once seated we didn't even have water on the table for 15 minutes. We had to ask for scones twice and of two different restaurant staff (not our waitress, who was largely inattentive). Brunch menu and food are average and portions are small. The only redeeming quality was the service at the bar - our bartender was friendly, apologetic and attentive. Though this is to be expected when mimosas are $10 ea.

    Not worth the price

I do not normally write reviews about restaurants. However, I felt compelled to do so after my utterly disappointing dining experience at Public. The space is undeniably adorable. The ambiance was nice as was the staff. But the food...not so good. The apps and entrees were average at best. And let's not forget that this is not an inexpensive meal. The couple sitting at the table next to us sent back two different entrees and finally settled on not eating at all. My friend and I are still trying to figure out how Public received a Michelin star. Overall, the food was a total let down and certainly not worth the money.

    Public Hell

Twice I've been to this place and each time they forgot to put my order in. Wouldn't say the food was worth the three hour wait... it was below average.

    better options in NYC

pros: - some dishes very good - cool ambience - service attentive cons: - small portions - pricey for what you get - some dishes too fussy and flavors don't work - poor lighting and menu fonts too small

    Amazing!

Had a wonerful evening with friends. The food was excellent and inventive, the service was attentive and the room is beautiful -- candles everywhere and a view of a park out the window. I had the lentil salad and the duck, both of which were great (especially the potatoes with the duck. Others had swordfish and lamb, and enjoyed them very much. The desserts were to die for - especially the Australian hokey pokey with passion fruit sauce. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a special meal.
