This place is very expensive, even for NY. I don't mind waiting as long as the food is good. The food was bland and overpriced- not well-presented. If you want basic food this is the place. Try it and see what you think but this place is not worth it.

I had heard so many good things about this place that I was excited to go, but unfortunately, not worth the hype: Expensive - $29 for a piece of meat that comes with nothing and was very fatty. My wife's suckling pig was like a small portion of pulled pork. Wine price was limited but ok - except it took 15 min to get our bottle Service lacking - took us 15 min for hostess to seat us and then the waitress spent more time chatting with the couple next to us than waiting on us - never once asked us how things were, etc. Overrated at best

Just went for brunch this morning. Got steak and eggs, both done perfectly. Great bloody mary menu, I got the Chicago Matchbox (absolutely perfect). We only waited for 20 minutes, but I hear that it can get up to 45 minutes. Get there early, put your name down and grab a juice at the corner.

We squeezed into the tiny door and found ourselves in a strangely exclusive-feeling joint. Cell phones were forbidden. We were promptly served the most succulent yet simpe food...the sweetbreads were soft and juicy and delicious. The shrimp in anchovy butter made us want to lick the plate. The whole fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Even the crunchy buttered radishes made us fight for who got the last bite. A must try if you like real food.

Every visit to Prune gets better and better, it is refreshing to find uncomplicated food prepared in such fun ways. Chef Gabrielle Hamilton is one of my favorites chefs, I'm such a fun of hers, on a recent visit she stopped at our table to say hello, she certainly practices what she serves, unpretentious, good taste and classy. The place is alive, crowed, noisy and tight, but it is so much fun, we love the downstairs room, it is cozy and so different. The service was amazing, for such a busy place. We just love this place.

Overly congenial, friendly, accomodating wait staff. Knowledgable, not pushy about foods and wines. If close-quarters offends your personal space, let others enjoy your loss. Simple presentation belies novel, creative flavours and combinations. An easy, comfortable evening shared with like-minded culinary explorers. Stay with what works!

While i was enjoying my meal i witness the prescise work of prune's expetatour, her precison like a swiss watch, putting trays and trays of food with great expertise. So smooth, so sexy.keep it up A.
