The sushi is excellent here and I love the owner/waitress. She always remembers us and gives me little treats to take home to my daughter. My husband and I love to go for dinner cause it's usually not too crowded and if u go upstairs you have privacy as well. Lunch special is very good too. I'm def. a fan!

I work nearby and eat at Potluck at least once a week for lunch. Can't comment on dinner menu or service since I'm only here for lunch, but it is a great lunch place. Best sushi in the area.

In my past life when I was in high school I might have considered returning to this restaurant. If it were not for my company it would flat out be the most subpar dining experience in nyc. Highly recommend lunch or sitting downstairs.

Great little sushi spot in midtown! The fish were fresh and the sesame chicken is divine! Highly recommend it! Great prices and awesome sake! :)

Met a friend here for an early evening dinner. We ordered soup and 3 Chef's Special Rolls in order to meet our $15/pp quota to get free unlimited Sake. Their hot & sour soup, although not Japanese, was FANTASTIC and my usual barometer for a decent Chinese restaurant. There were so many creative Chef's Special Rolls to choose from we had a hard time narrowing it down. Decided to try the Titani roll based on an earlier and was BLOWN AWAY! I'm still craving the sweet, delicate scallop. The Christmas Roll was OK and Yankee roll delish. Only issue was it seemed the service was intentionally slow to limit our Sake consumption - next time will request that we each get our own carafe. Will return!

So what I don't understand is...how is this place NOT more popular? Delicious and fresh CHEAP sushi (I'm talking $14 for 3 specialty rolls and soup) + unlimited sake? I almost don't want them to become more popular because I'm afraid they'll up the prices. LOVE this place. I go here for dinner at least once a week.

I have been looking for a great sushi take out place for the past few years working in this area. Last night I worked late and decided to take a chance on Potluck. The only thing I was disappointed with was that I hadn't found them sooner (and that I don't have a bigger appetite b/c I couldn't eat all of it!). The Edamane was warm and perfectly salted; the Kani salad (while I prefer it with the vinegar dressing and cucumers) thankfully didn't have a lot of mayo and just the perfect amount of tempura flakes; I went with the Maki C combo - the spicy tuna was great (tuna melted in my mouth) and they added flakes w/o me asking which is a plus in my book; california roll is hard to mess up, and the shrimp tempura roll was delicious! The rolls were big (not like some places where they give you skinny little rolls w/ no sushi in them w the specials), very tasty AND they let me substitute the miso soup with their homemade wanton soup for no charge. All in all - a great first experience and I plan to order again very soon. I must try the spicy scallop roll next but plan on making my way through the entire menu. OH and I meant to mention - I ordered around 6:45 - it was here before 7pm. Enjoy!
