What's This All About?
I cannot believe this place is still open. We got there brunch on Sunday and there was no one in the place. They brought us "one" menu. Two out of the items we ordered were the wrong things, and they each came out one at a time. We had to ask for the syrup for the pancakes three times. No one spoke English.

How do they stay open
9:00 pm on a Saturday and the place is 3/4 empty. I should have known. Nice burger on a WONDER BREAD BUN? puchini mushroom ravioli without the puchini mushrooms Two meals served then the other two five minutes later Really inept.

Excellent
Dinner for 7. Service was perfect - friendly, smiling, accommodating and just right. two of us had sesame encrusted tuna with carrots and spinach that was cooked exactly how we asked for it and delish. The spinach was some of the best I've had.My daughter had the gnochi which was very well made - many places don't get it quite right and they did. Wine is a generous pour, which is important to me... The bread hot and fresh. I thought the prices were reasonable for NYC. I can't understand why the place wasn't packed. Usually I stop here for a drink and they go out of their way to give you great service. Dinner was no exception.

Poor experience
From outside it looked nice but once inside... it is really not as we expected it to be. First of all it was freezing and we kept our coats during the whole meal. Second, the bartender couldnt make a good mojito... Then, the service was mediocre with waitresses barely speaking english and finally, the price is far too high for what we ate. I do not recommend this place.

Service charge debacle
First impressions - an interesting looking restaurant that seems cosy on a cold night, so we go in. The cocktail menu is offered but they can't make a gin & tonic correctly (worrying!) The specials sound enticing and we order the squash soup - very warming. The main courses are nothing special. Spaghetti with tuna doesn't get finished but the pork with apple sauce is good. The wine is reasonable quality but too expensive for what it is. Dessert is tasty. Then the sting in the tail: we pay the bill and leave a reasonable tip. The waitress collects the payment slip, then comes back a minute later and tells us "by law" that we have to leave a larger tip. We disagree and leave expecting to see the smaller amount billed to us. To be sure, we then call the bank afterwards. We discover that the restaurant has charged for a higher amount than we signed for. We go back. The bank is initially blamed. We insist that the bank is not at fault. Then it turns out they add a high tip automatically but that "it will fix itself" and only the smaller amount will eventually show up on peoples' bank statements. According to the staff, many customers are "unhappy" when they discover this!

Possibly worst meal I've had
Just poor, everything from the bread being too tough to eat to the meal being salty and unedible. We couldn't wait to finish.

I had to laugh
I was reading one of the other reviews and the reviewer talked about the sandwich on Wonderbread, we saw someone bringing a bag of Wonderbread half way through the meal. We enjoyed our meal, the calamari was great.
