    For these prices- try again

Room-great. Service-very good. But hey, what about the food? The $90 Porterhouse for two didn't taste at all like dry-aged for 24 days(or at all), was ordered medium-rare and was served rare on not-hot plates so the meat was cold in less than five minutes. And that steak was not an ample portion for the prices charged. We had apps and a porterhouse for two and sides and were a little bit hungry after. This is not a serious N.Y. steakhouse.

    pleasantly surprised

I wasn't going in with great expectations after reading several "so-so" reviews. I have to say our waiter was very friendly and knowledgable. We split the evenings' special of the ribeye steak for two. Excellent! The vegetable side dishes were ok. The only negative were the hard breads! But overall the ambience, service and particularly the prime cut of meat were above average. Would definitely return.

    Great! Great! Great!

A friend and I went to eat here a few months ago and we thought it was amazing!! The bread was warm, the appetizers were yummy (we had crab cakes and shimp cocktail). My friend took one sip of his water and they came right over to fill up that sip. He got up to go to the bathroom and they came by and folded his napkin for him. We both basically licked our entrees clean. I had the swordfish and he had the chili rubbed T-Bone. We are going back again this weekend because I haven't stopped hearing about the T-Bone since we left! I totally recommend everyone to give this one a try. You will not be disappointed.

Great Atmosphere, Food and Service So-So

I should learn that reading these reviews really does give you an idea of what the dining experience will be like. This place is gorgeous as are the other spaces in the time warner center. However, the food and service at Porter House fall short of Cafe Grey, where I had dinner last Sunday. My steak was a bit rough and slightly below room temperature. The waiters don't seem properly trained. I had to ask twice for water, bread, and utensils. My girlfriend sent back the Bass because it was cold. Prices are out of control. Most entrees high 30's, low 40's.

    good food, ok service

Seated for reservation without waiting on Valentine's Day, immediately handed wine list without even seeing menu. Lobster bisque was creamy, as was creamed spinach. Hash browns were very good as well. Porterhouse for two was tasty, but arrived cold. Medium rare is warm, red center, not "cool to the touch" on surface.

    Not recommended

This restaurant would be a disappointment were it not for the exquisite setting in the magnificent Time Warner center. The atmosphere is excellent and the views are spectacular, but that's where the pleasantries end. The food is so plain that most Diners put it to shame. There was no flavor to any of the uninspired, boring dishes. I have rarely come across such a disconnect between what a restaurant believes it is worth and the actual product it produces. The prices are set as if the food were inspired by Jean-Georges or Tom Colicchio, but one gets something more likely to be prepared by Ronald McDonald. The glum faces on the restaurant patrons said it all. The wait staff is equally disconnected. Our waiters were so completely full of themselves and overly contrived that they came across as almost surreal caricatures and parodies. If you are truly looking for an inspired dining experience, you would be well served to walk down the corridor to Per Se or Masa (if you have finished paying off your mortgage of course). I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone

Mediocre steak at best - disappointed

I dined at porterhouse last night - the hostess, waiter and busboys were great. I wish the same could be said for the steak. I ordered the strip. It was as fatty as it was chewy. For $40 I was not happy and will never go back. Do not waste your time or money going here. My friend ordered off the restaurant week menu. She got steak frites which was mediocre at best. Now she wasn't expecting the best cut of meat because it was off the restaurant menu that is why I ordered the strip which was recommended by our waiter over the Tbone. Money better spent elsewhere. Onion rings were great and waitstaff very attentive. Do not go there for the food.
