    great steakhouse

Our party of 5 enjoyed excellent food (duck, hangar steak, swordfish and porterhouse for 2) as well as excellent service on a busy Saturday night. Besides giving the best in service, the waiter even totally accurately described the taste of the wine we were considering! I would say that the desserts were somewhat under par, but all the entrees were great, as were the "sides".

Prime Bar Scene but Subprime Porterhouse!!

If you want to enjoy a prime bar scene this is the right place. If you are looking for a Prime Porterhouse, this is the wrong place.

    Disappointing

Had anniversary dinner there saturday night. Appetizers were ok. Ordered porterhouse for 2 and it was extremely small portion. It was not cooked medium as requested, but charred. We never got sauces from the waiter. Desserts were average. How can you mess up the ice cream in a profiterole? This was a splurge for a special occasion....never again. I can do better at soo many other steakhouses

    disappointing for its reputation

Came here with a group for restaurant week. The prix-fixe had a hangar steak, endive and mustard salad, and cheese cake dessert. My medium steak was tough and flavor was over-powered by the char. Even my friend who ordered her steak rare said all she tasted was char. The flavors in the salad did not go together well. The dessert was ok, but not spectacular. It was quite a disappointment given that most restaurants put out their best for restaurant week to entice diners to come back. Delmonico's steak house had much better quality food. The ambiance was very elegant and clean. Service was a bit slow even though the restaurant was mostly empty, but overall good. I wouldn't recommend it given that there are much better steak houses in the city at that price range.

    Awesome Steak, great atmosphere

Theres only one way to order a steak of this caliber and thats rare, I did and it melted in my mouth, beautifully seared outside and perfectly rare in the middle. Ranks in my top 5 of best New York Steak Houses.

    Great lunch - Bad service

Always enjoy lunch - bring our friends - always surprised by the awful service. The waiter is vague and inattentive, the bread person throws the butter on the table, and the busboy cannot actually do his job at all. What's wrong with the staff? Does any management person watch them? Are they trained by each other? Takes the attention from the pretty setting and good food. I guess eventually we'll just give up on them. Too bad.
