    Great Food!

One of the best restaurants (at this price) in the city! The food is always amazing and the staff is always friendly. The lobster BLT is a must! The only warning is to sit in the back of the restaurant during winter. Went there on a cold day and was absolutely freezing.

    Loved it!

My seafood risotto was outstanding --packed with seafood (shrimp, squid, mussels, and scallops) and very flavorful. The portion was so large I had no room for dessert. My friend loved her lamb, which was also very generously portioned. More French than African. Entirely yummy. A small place with comfortable atmosphere and a lot of character.

    Fabulous

Finally made it to Ponty and it was truly fabulous - the food is really tasty, the portions are large and the service couldn't be nicer. Lots of choices on the menu, from dinner salads to extensive meat, fish and chicken selections. The whole branzino was delicious, with plenty of plaintains and a nice salad. Great sangria, too. Can't wait to return!

    Neighborhood Find

Walk in this area many times a week and didn't discover this restaurant until last week. Very charming/not too loud (although we were there early - 7ish. Service was very cordial - not hovering over us to take order/clear plates. Food was very fresh - had beet salad -very good. Entree was Snapper - a bit overcoated and a tad dry - but very edible. Very interesting, tasty sauce - had a nice tangy/various spices taste. Very fresh vegetables. Nothing very exciting about dessert - ordered cheesecake - bland and out of the box (Twinnings, etc) tea selection. It appears they have an extensive martini list-but didn't partake any liquor. Would go again to try other dishes.

amazing french african fusion and friendly staff!

this is the second time that i've come to this place and just like the first, i was again delighted with the food! my husband and i just stumbled upon this restaurant while we were looking for a place to eat one saturday night. we loved the food so much we decided to bring the whole family along for easter dinner! the fish entrees are cooked to perfection. the lamb dish is to die for. the meat melts in your mouth. the steak and fries was also delicious. the portions are quite generous. both times, we left very full. as for beverages, the ponty ginger martini has become a favorite! the staff is also very nice and service is quick. the chef comes out to say hello. they are also so accommodating and friendly to our precocious 16-month old son! the chef even gives him free ice cream. i've been to several 4 and 3 star restaurants in NY and i must say that the quality of the food from ponty rivals them. i am so glad to have found ponty in my neighborhood! it really is fine dining with a neighborhood feel!

Wondered why I hadn't discovered it before!!

Who ever designed the restaurant did a fabulous job in creating the type of decor that is warm and inviting! Excellent decor. The chef is undoubtedly well trained and the restaurant's French West African Fare can only compete with one other in New York as far as I'm concerned and that is KUSH restaurant in Bedford Stuy. The Moules Africana is a great idea and the Saint Jacques du chef with its scallop and asparagus is scrumptious. I will undoubtedly return for the seafood risotto while my partner still talks about the Niokolokoba - steak marinated in Senegalese spices. I too feel that some of the entrees are a little pricey, but there's something for every budget on the menu and the 2for1 martinis are a great idea. I'm definitely looking forward to my next meal at Ponty. I'd say it's fine dining without a lot of the pretension!
