    Jak w kraju

I'm Polish and I've once visited this restaurant. It was pleasant experience. Good Polish dishes at moderate prices.

    Apple Cake

I've only ordered dessert, but the apple cake is amazing. It's almost as good as like babcia's (grandmother) and considering I'm not back in Oz for a while, this will be my taste of home.

    Welcome To Your Second Home!

This really feels like a second home! Great restaurant, especially for someone Russian or Ukranian like me who lives in the East Village and wants to try their hometown food. Reccomended for people who live in Village View. Breakfast is their specialty. If you want to treat yourself to a good breakfast, go there.

    Be patient or go away

If you are too shy to ask for what you want in the way of service, get ready for bad news. Don't expect the servers to anticipate your needs. Do not be shy about standing up and walking over to your server who might be standing around chatting with another co-worker. Le Cirque, this ain't. You're a New Yorker, so speak up and get ready for some good old Polish down home cooking.

    Seriously, subpar delivery

I ordered because I believe Christine's is closed, but the order taker wrote my address down wrong, and an hour later when I called she said the delivery guy just got back.I asked her if my milkshake would be melted and my food cold and she said no, it's fine.Food arrives 20 minutes later. Milkshake a watery mess. Soup, which I asked for mainly chicken broth and a few noodles is all noodles and huge chunks of chicken and was lukewarm. Ordered a potato blintz and a cheese blintz. Had to microwave them since they were cold. Cooked golden and crispy, but the potato filling inside had no taste and needed salt. Cheese blintz tasted good. I have never written a review, but I feel so strongly that the service sucked and the food sucked and it's overpriced, that I had to share.

    homey polish food

One of the last remaining East Village Polish restaurants of which there used to be so many! Polonia is still back in the old era of Yolanta's, Kiev, Teresa's, KK, Little Poland, Christine's, and the old version of Veselka. The food is reliably good (w/ the exception of breakfast) and satisfying. It's not the best Polish food around - that distinction I would bestow on Little Poland at this point - but it's right up there. The great thing about this place is that it is relaxed, old timey east village, i.e. affordable. The waitstaff is not attuned to the NYC demand for immediate attention and endless kowtowing. They do their thing the way they do it. If you don't like that, go somewhere else or order ahead and take it home.

    Amazing If You Can Relax

If you always need a restaurant to have ambiance and great service, Polonia is not for you. On the other hand, if you dine out as an adventure looking for good food at very good prices and can sit back and relax and not get too crazy when a waitress doesnt rush over for your order, this is the place for you. Start with a simple bowl of soup, always get a large plate of the boiled potato perogies (they're awesome) with lots of sauteed onions and move on to the Chicken Cutlet plate with two side dishes (we love the cucumber salad or kasha). This is enough food for 2-3 people and your check will be under 25 bucks...in NYC!!! Be a big sport and split an order of fruit and cheese blintzes.....delicious!! So what if your waitress needs to be beckoned?? It's the East Village, it's a small spot, it's tremendously understaffed, but the kitchen knows what it's doing! Go for the homemade comfort food served...slowly....., relax and enjoy even if your waitress is sitting by the counter ignoring you (which she probably will until you call out for her or actually have to get up and get her yourself).
