    best sushi in NYC

we have been here a few times now and it just gets better each time! the first time we went we got special rolls only, we love the red dragon roll and the dynamite roll. The rolls were great but we realized the pieces were the way to go. The salmon and shima aji were the best in the city. The service got better too.. We're going to try and make it our regular place.

    Hostess without the Mostess

So I am a regular of Poke and cannot argue that the food is great. I wish I could say that I had a great meal there last night and went home satisfied. Unfortunately, this was not the case being that the hostess with a Napolean complex felt like using the tiny ounce of power and control she possesses in this world to not seat our party at 10pm on a Wednesday night. Instead of pushing two tables together to seat our party of four who had put our name down a half hour earlier, she let two people walk in and sit immediately. The whole experience was partnered with this hostesses ridiculous and unwarranted attitude. The food is good, but unfortunately, even a bunch of regulars may have to endure this treatmnent on a Wednesday night.

    Love Poke

I've been going to Poke for years now, and just wanted to add my positive review here. If you haven't tried it yet, feel lucky, since the new place is so much bigger and nicer than the old place which was down the street. I used to wear "Poke clothes" when going for dinner because whatever I used to wear would reek later. The food is always awesome, the staff is great, and who doesn't like byob? Especially with Yorkshire wines a block away... Don't miss Poke. Well worth it if travelling from other parts of town.

    Wow

went last night at 7 and sat right away at the sushi bar....the tables filled up quickly by 8 (mon night)....i have to say it's the best sushi i've had in ny (gari was closed)....the service was phenominal...didn't feel rushed at all....it's so good that the sushi (order) was even better than the rolls (spicy tuna) which with all the rice took away from how good the fish is....next time i will just order sashimi....which will be tonight!

    Pretty Good

My sister and I went here and sat at the sushi bar. We loved the sushi and thought it was perfect before a movie because it was quick and easy. Good atmosphere and good service. Will def do again and this time bring a bottle of wine

Great - if you accept it for what it is.

I have been here a couple of times, once with my husband (who hated the rushed service and will not return), and once with my son (who was afterwards having dreams about the truffle sushi). Very affordable with the bring your own, but then, you pay the price that they want the table back asap. I think the whole package works as in freshness and quality = value. Definitely a lot better than some of the highly touted upper east side sushi places that I thought were awful. A keeper!

    Nothing to Write Home About

My friends RAVE about this place, so I went. BYOB? Okay. No reservations? Okay. Freshest sushi? Perhaps. Sushi with no real taste? Definitely. Waiters who keep reminding you that you shouldn't take your time eating? Yup! Nothing blew me away here, except that I ran into half my graduating class. Definitely not going to make an effort to return.
