Poke Restaurant

Last night was my second visit in two weeks. Last week was my first ever, had a great date with my fiancé. Enjoyed the food, and liked the byob feature (despite the one bottle maximum!). Good value overall. So last night I took her back there along with two friends. We went early (6p) to avoid the wait. Another great experience, dropped double the cash (warning, cash only, kind of annoying in this day and age!!), then at the very end... BUZZ KILL! The waiter asked us to 'kindly move along, because the wait was now over an hour'! This was the first time this has ever happened to me, anywhere! From hundreds of restsurants in NY, through Morocco, France, Aruba, Australia, Canada, Mexico, etc... you name the continent! Mind you, we had only just finished dessert, we were not loud or boisterous, our byob limited wine among four was finished, and we had only just paid our $260.00!! Our jackets were even on!! Talk about an embarrassing slap in the face! I attribute this err to bad management because then when I went to complain and voice my disdain for this request, they seemed puzzled at my reaction. Two young managers only tried making excuses instead of remedying the situation. I made sure guests on line could hear what was going on. I found the ending to be rude and unethical. I don't care how long the wait it, you DO NOT ask paying guests to 'move along' like that, table turnover rate be damned! I would have been a repeat customer, but now I have no desire to return. There are just too many other places with much better treatment and appreciation for loyal customers. Too much competition out there to treat people like crap. Poke off.

This has been my go to sushi place since it has amazing sushi, and cheap, plus BYOB. The last time I went there, they gave a minimum to each person of $18. Kind of annoying if you aren't going to eat a lot!

Sushi is really good quality and they have really flavorful rolls. Byob is a plus but they limit you to 1 bottle for up to 3 ppl. The wait staff is usually good but the host pushes them to flip the tables ASAP. You definitely feel rushed. Despite the service it is one of my few go-to sushi spots.

I have been going to Poke for over 4 years! It is the BEST sushi place I have ever been too. Sometimes there may be a long wait but it is worth the time and money. They are cash only though. The service is very good. Since Poke is so popular there may be a little bit of a food wait max 30 minutes. If I could rate Poke's sushi I would give it a 10 out of 10! Sadly they do not deliver. Though you can either go Poke to pick it up or just eat there. I can't wait to have my dinner. It's Poke!

I've been going here for about a year and a half now and it just keeps getting better and better. Rolls are on the small side but are so fresh and well priced, so you can just order more. Never had a bad experience and will always look to poke as my number 1 sushi spot. Try the Xmas roll and Truffle roll.

There is a wide variation in the quality of the fish and some of the fish is improperly identified - both rather strong negatives in my book. If you cannot get a particular variety of fresh fish on any given day - temporarily suspend serving the items that include that fish. But under no circumstances should an attempted surreptitious substitution be made. That is out-rightly dishonest.
