Good food, not good service
Playwright is very crowded restaurant. although it's VERY very crowded, you get prompt seating. The food is good, above average for sure, but service was below everage. The manager and all the waitresses were too busy trying to take all the oders from the tables. Well, its a good place to visit, when you are on broadway and don't know where to eat

Loved the Playwright!
We were in New York last week, had a group dinner, meal was delicious, esp the turnip, carrots and honey mashed together, nice atmosphere highly recommend it to anyone.

Service
We were very disappointed in the service. We were the fir st to be seated in the room. Other tables were served before ours. Once our food came, three were served and three meals were missing. Two more finally came with one meal missing. The server then told us they did not have anymore of that meal. The waitress then left the table - and never came back! She should have told us right away that they ran out of something. She had everyone else do her job and never came back to our table. Since we were going to a show and we would have been late, two in our party had to share a meal. It was a bad experience. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

Great time
I first went to Playwrights in 2000 and recently returned with my wife and found the same grat food, supurb atmosphere and great Irish girls who could not do enough to help. A home from home.

Enjoyable dinner
We had a saturday night performance at Radio City and found "Playwright" on this website, made reservations for 4 in advance to play it safe. We were so pleased, great food, great service and a price fix offering. We will certainly look forward to visiting the "Playwright" the next time we visit NYC.

Not recommended for Brunch
On November 12, 2005, my husband, daughter and I had lunch at Playwright prior to seeing the Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall. The hamburgers my daughter and I had were quite good, but the pancakes my husband ordered were an not good, especially since they were $17! The dish consisted of five (5) with a diameter of approx. 4 inches. And we had to ask for more syrup to add to the approx. 2 tablespoons of syrup that came with the skimpy pancakes. By the time the waitress arrived with the second order of syrup, the pancakes were cold. So, beware of ordered their "brunch."
