The best burger still in Brazil

PJ is great, good burgers and service is one of americas best burger. If you are looking for the best burger ever, you should fly to Sao Paulo, Brazil and try a tini burger joint called St. Louis. Try any of the choices, they are all great.

    Don't believe the hype

Food is decent but overpriced. The burgers are small, often too charred, and come with nothing. Burgers are close to 10 bucks a pop and you need at least 2 if you want a meal. $5 for a small plate of burnt hashbrowns. All about the atmosphere and history - which isn't enough to carry this place to the top. Go to any other place with real pub food and see where $10 should take you. Absolutely one of the most overrated places in NYC.

Best burger in Midtown for lunch

Been to Parker Meridian, done the ZipBurgers and look-a-likes...for anyone who works in MidTown it is the BEST place for a burger and beer at lunch. Hands down. But if you're willing to travel, Corner Bistro is still the best.

Not cheap, but worth the money

Everything I've tried here has been better than expected -- much better. Burgers, onion soup, mussels, fries, oysters, fish, and vegetables. Of special note is the side dish of broccoli rabe. Not only was it seasoned and cooked well, but cut in such an impressive way that it did not allow for drops of olive oil to spray onto my shirt while hoisting it from the plate to my mouth. I doubt it's intentional, but for that reason alone, I will order it every time I go there. The fried fish, in my opinion is probably the best bet for a cost to food ratio. It's a large piece of fish fried better than most other restaurants and pubs. The beer selection is not large, but is very good. The only downside is the cost. It's not cheap. But the quality and atmosphere, and the fact that it's in midtown can explain away most of the cost, if not all. I just wish I earned more so I could eat there more often. Be warned, one can run up a very big tab on beer very easily. It's all worth it.

Best burgers and atmosphere in NYC

Everything from the food to the people makes this a local favorite. The burgers are amazing, as are the oysters, the Cobb salad, anything we've tried from the sandwiches to the desserts. You won't find a friendlier or better bar or wait staff either. Any wait is well worth it. This is a great place to have a drink, eat a meal, or both while you dance to Sinatra or whatever the crowd chooses to play from the jukebox. Whether you're with your date or spouse, a group of guys or gals, or even a business partner, PJ's is difficult to beat.

    Overrated

I've lived in NYC my whole life and I've had a lot of hamburgers in this city. P.J. Clarke's is a run-of-the-mill burger...you can get better ones at some coffee shops. It cannot touch the burger at the Burger Joint at the Parker Meridien, or the Corner Bistro, or even the one at the White Horse Tavern. I've had a few hamburgers lately at the New York Burger Co. chain and theirs is much better than the P.J. Clarke's burger. I know this place has an old time, genuine New York feel to it, and there's a lot of history here, but the burger is simply not top-quality.

Great pub for v good food, atmosphere!

Love this place! It's a NY classic. Cozy atmoshpere, attractive pub interior, and very good food -- soups, burgers, and many other dishes. Highly recommend and will visit whenever in the neighborhood!
