Not so great
Just had some pizza delivered from here. I don't know what they used in their sauce (or it could have been the cheese), but it smelled and tasted like bacon. I have never heard of anything like that. They should let you know in advance, in case you don't want to be eating bacon mixed in with your pizza. First and last time eating from here.

OK at best
this place is good for a quick slice. I advise to stay away from the pasta and hot dishes you get from the back, their main focus is on pizza. Not the best but not the worst. service is very good though.

Great Price
I ordered take out from this place based on the previous positive reviews and was very pleased with the taste and portions but the best part was their prices - I ordered a huge pasta and huge anitpasto salad for $7 each!! They were a little slow on the delivery but, then again, I tend to notice the clock more when I'm really hungry! All in all, I will definitely be ordering from here again when my next italian craving hits!

Good slice
Compared to other standard pizzerias, the slice is pretty good and usually has a fresh taste to it that many pizzerias lack. The sandwiches and hot prepared food can be hit or miss depending upon who prepares it. I ordered the same cold sub twice. Both times the person preparing it had to study the menu to determine what went on it. The first time it was great, but the second time was so different that I haven't dared to order a sub since.

Out of Options
When you run out of places to eat in midtown and only have an hour break to eat, I think Pizza Rustica is the place to go. It's fast, good and reasonably priced. It's food on the go but if you want to sit and have a nice lunch with a co-worker or friend, just head to the back of the store and there is a setting area that many people do not realize is there.

I live above the pizzeria
I live above the pizzeria and remember when Rustica first moved in. (They took over from another pizza shop about ten years ago.) They have very good food. The pizza is thin crust and delicious. The pasta is very good too. You just have to stand over the workers a bit to make sure it's served correctly. They tend to reheat the pizza too long (I live above the shop, after all, and don't need it burnt.) Tell them, "Just warm." If you get a slice from a fresh-made pie, it's heaven. The premade food is just OK: the calzones, the chicken rolls, etc. They've been sitting for a while. They also have a good lunch value in the rear, where they load a plate of different pasta and vegetables you choose for $6.50. This food is just OK. You get a lot for the price but it's not the best. And it's served almost room temperature, rather than hot. (It's a steam table.) I recommend that you sit in the area in back to eat. Most people don't know it's there and therefore eat their food standing at the standup counter in front. Sit in back and relax. (This area is actually from the rear section of the store next door, when the Cingular cell phone store took over the old Smiler's Deli store, they didn't need the extra rear area, so Rustica leased it. That's also why you have to walk the dog leg to get there and can't see it from the front.) Enjoy Rustica, I eat their food three or four times a week and my preteen daughter loves the pizza too.
