Sunday Night is Special
Last night my wife and i went to Pisticci and we had a lovely time. Apparently, Sunday night is the night to go as there is live Jazz performances. Very cool stuff. à Food was very nice. Everything was light= - both my wife and i had fish. I thought the price was fair / comparable with any upper west side restaurant, including tip $75. We each had one drink (coke), appetizer, main course (mine was the special), tea and dessert. Service is neither 5 star treatment or serve/east and leave spot. Imagine being in a jazz bar being serviced by young musicians; it will be quick, but it gives you time to interact with your date. Staff is also knowledgeable with the menu. I tested! Overal Pisticci is a great local restaurant with great ambiance, lovely sunday night music, and good food.

I disagree with what people say about the staff, I go here often, and I have had nothing but great experiences with the wait staff, they understand that you are waiting a while, and try and accommodate as best they can. As soon as you are seated though, you are never rushed, and I could eat that garlic bread with goat cheese all night long. The maltagliati pasta is delicious and decadent treat.

my favorite regular spot
amazing value, especially if you order from the regular menu (as opposed to the daily specials). i don't love the hostess and some of the wait staff, but the delicious food at affordable prices in a cute setting more than make up for this. some favorites: the spaghetti and meatballs, the pasta dish served with truffle oil, any of their soups (housemade), the coconut cake, the iced tea with fruit nectar. i haven't been as thrilled with the meat entrees. i'd say stick to pastas, soups, salads and desserts for a hearty (or light) meal in a neighborhood spot.

service ruins an otherwise good experience
the place is cute and charming and tucked away. the food is decent. however, the service ruins all of this. they cannot roll with the flow. we asked a waitress for bread about 5 times, no bread. we asked to squeeze in an extra chair, she looked at us like a deer in the headlights. maybe she was having a bad day? that being said, i have had better waiters & waitresses, but it is very slow & everyone just seems a little confused.

Favorite place to take friends.
I find it odd that people are saying they had poor service... I've eaten there at least 10 times and have always been nothing but impressed with the service. The people who work there have been there for a while and are always so friendly and down-to-earth. Plus, the food is authentic and they never rush you through your meal. The music is great (chill indie stuff) and the decor is warm and cosy. It's a great spot for us uptown folks who like something close.

Great food poor service
My husband and I keep going back to the restaurant because of its great food even though it's usually quite a wait. But I agree with the other reviewer that sometimes the service can be rather poor. The other evening when we were there our waitress (not the "headmistress") was really rude and impatient she acted as if she were doing us a favor serving us. It really spoils your dinner when you have someone unprofessional like that, especially when it is supposed to be a nice restaurant and for the kind of money you're paying. I agree that some dishes are not overpriced. Once we tried a dish from the special menu that had a fancy name, but it's really unimpressive and not worth the money.

Great Find
Me (Gregory), Nat, Glenn, and Rebecca all went with our wonderful new friend Michelle to this place after class one night for a quick dinner. Michelle had recommended it because it was fairly priced and the food was good. It was better than good. The menu is only a hint of what the place has to offer. The gold is in the specials. I had a crab salad, fantastic, and Glenn had shrimp pasta with red sauce, which he described as really tasty and garlicythe latter a bit I really like. Everyone enjoyed their food, and we all wished for more time to experience the appetizers and wine. The water is poured from big mason jars and the servers all seem to be part of some big happy family. Truly a great place. So we'll be heading back soon to this cozy, neat little restaurant.
