Not sure about these other reviews...

I have been to Pipa numerous times over the past few years and have never had a problem with the service or felt rushed while I was eating. I went with a big group of my girlfriends on a Saturday night and we sat and had a three hour dinner and were never pressured into feeling like we should leave. The only time I have had to wait is on a Saturday night when I did not make reservations beforehand. I have frequented other tapas places in the city and the food there does not compare to the food at Pipa. The shrimp and garlic dish is amazing as are the mushroom croquetas. Some of the dishes may be overpriced, but the majority of menu items are reasonable. If you like tapas, then Pipa is definitely a place you should try!

    Needs a dance floor

Great ambience and drinks. Food is hit or miss. Sometimes the sweetness interferes with the garlic seasonings in the calamari and scallops. The fried items can be too rich. The music calls for a dance floor in this cramped but visually appealing locale. Would go back for the lighter dishes.

    Great food - poor service

i loved the papas fritas and the chorizos....everything else was just pretty good. I was really turned off by the service. our server was rude and rushed.

    Love at First Date

My absolute favorite was the Piggy Back Date. It was crunchy and salty on the outside, and then as you bite into it, it deliciously melts in your mouth, and then you finish with the slightest bit of crunch. The key is to eat it slowly. You have to savor it and let the food lead you to a playful dance. And when I finished, I knew I had fallen in love with my "date."

    Extremely overpriced

the food its self was not great not bad. but the portions were so small, even for tapas size. 5 stalks of asparagus for 15 bucks, kind of outrageous. patas bravas were 10 bucks for the most bland plain potatoes I have ever had. would have been a complete waste of money but the cava sangria was good.

    bacon wrapped dates...yum

First time here but I was going after reading some negative reviews but went anyway. I think the food was pretty good and service was great but it is a little pricy although not really compared to many other NY establishments. I will be back to try some other dishes I didnt get the chance to this time.

    rude and overpriced

Our night started when a bus boy accidentally spilled a full vase of ice water down my friend's back. No apology... food is overpriced and mediocre. don't order the slimy calamari. We liked one out of four. 4 small plates and a bottle of wine. over $100 bucks. left disappointed and hungry.
