Genuine Cuban food
I've been eating Cuban food for over 40 years. In my opinion, you won't find better "traditional" Cuban food in the NY Metro area.

Suffering from Service
The food at Pilar is very good. It's one of the only places to get tortilla espanola in a pretty large radius, but the service is just too poor to be worth it. Two pre-made egg sandwiches take about a half hour. The owners are kind people, but the people working are nasty and unpleasant. With a staff upgrade and some slightly faster service this place would be untouchable.

Don't tell me...
Seriously, if I call and try to order something don't tell me all the shit you can't do. Maybe wait for me to finish ordering before you tell me you have a $10 minimum. Also, don't tell me you aren't delivering yet but you will in 10 minutes. Just take my order and start in 10 minutes. Don't tell me you can't make eggs and beans but you can make a goddamn sandwich with eggs and beans. Just hold the bread.

Poor customer service
I have tried giving this place a chance however the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Rude over the phone, delivery takes at least 1hr and when it gets to you bag is usually tossed around. Price not worth the value, and very inconsistent. They may or may not deliver depending on mood or attitude of person working. Got a different answer same day when I called. Not worth it. They treat customers like they'll doing them a favor.

I Looove this place!!
Best Cuban food in the area, hands down. The staff is so friendly, I just want to eat here everyday. I would if I were closer! But they do have delivery :)

Better with age
After ironing out the initial kinks involved with getting up to speed, Pilar has become a staple of our take out rotation. Great addition to our neighborhood!

Wow!
I stumbled past Pilar while on a walk with my family. The place is so small that you'd almost miss it if it wasn't for the amazing aroma of braised beef and smiling patrons waiting for food spilling out the door. This place has amazing food. They take great pride in their preparation and it shows. Once you eat here once you'll keep coming back.
