    Good Food and Value

I have been here several times for both lunch, dinner and drinks at the bar. I work in the area and I am sure I will continue to stop by. The food is good but not memorable. It is an excellent choice if you are in the neighborhood and want a good, inexpensive sit down meal. It is NOT a destination restaurant. I would never plan to have a special occassion meal there. Some reviewers complained about it being just so, so. I agreed it is no way near one of the top French places in NYC. There are many, many other better French restaurants in the city. This is a place for a simple, satisfying quick meal. Everything I have had there has always been good and sometimes excellent. The fries, burgers and sandwiches are all very good. The entrees and salads are OK. The clientele is mostly local office workers and the theater crowd. After 8pm, you get more local residents and sophisticated tourists.

    Excellent bistro, at any hour

Went to Pigalle's for lunch on a recent visit to NYC. My wife had ham and brie sandwich on a baguette and I had a delicious smoked salmon club on sourdough bread. Both came with fries and a small mesclun salad for less than $10 each. Later during our vacation we returned for a late night cheesecake which was also very good.

Best French food you'll find at 3am

...on the West side, anyway. I would definitely not come here for the food, there are too many better French places in the city that (for the money, you can hook around the corner between 8th and 9th aves to small bistros with more authentic fare in this neighborhood). But it's a 24 hr joint, and when you're jonesing a steak frites in Midtown after a bender has obliterated any thoughts of caloric intake/monetary output control, this is a very enticing place. I admit I have been charmed by it more than once in the wee hours of the morning. That being said, I would not have been so easily pleased at 8pm and sober. It's all about context, really.

    Disappointing

After reading reviews on this restaurant I chose it to be our French dinner while in NY. The menu had selections that sounded good but every dish we had was mediocre. The snails had way too much parsely, the goat cheese salad was so so. The waitress did not refill our bread basket and believe me she was not busy. I cannot understand how this restaurant got such good reviews. We went there for a dinner around 8pm - we had made reservations but there was no need to. It wasn't awful, but I am sure there are much better French cafes in NYC. We weren't looking for gourmet cuisine, just the French classics well prepared.

    Absolutely recommend

This place was fantastic. Walked in, sat right away and had excellent service. Food was our best meal while in NYC, and we ate at small restaurants in both Little Italy and Chinatown. We had breakfast and it was the most enjoyable Eggs Florentine I've ever had, maybe the best breakfast I've had. It also cost less than 10 dollars for my meal.

    Really good french fare

As others have said, large, somewhat loud, GREAT food ... a typical French bistro. Service was more than adequate, we were in no rush (pre-theater) and we were not rushed.

    Great experience overall!

The atmosphere was really great as far as feeling and appearance but the ambient noise level was outrageous. This would be bad for an intimate dinner where good conversation was planned BUT it also adds to the excitement of being in NYC! The food was good, reasonably priced, but I felt the service was lacking because it was so busy. The staff was flying around but not able to accommodate everyone (a couple next to us left because they waited too long for the waiter to come take their order). We also got an autograph from one of the stars from the Broadway musical we had just seen!
