    Best local Italian in NYC!

My husband and I went on recommendation of a friend that lives in NYC. The food was great! Portions were large. Veal was tender and tasty. Looking forward to going back in November!

    just ok

the place is just ok, nothing outstanding, prices are above average, interior average. service again just ok. would not go out of my way to eat here again, but would not rule it out. mnmgnt treated me well. despite being a woman eating alone, so not sure if the previous reviewer had a chip on her shoulder, but no issue. I will admit, my stomach was turning afterwards, not sure if it was their food or not. bottom line if I was meeting people for dinner there, I wouldn't tell them not to go...and if I was asked where to go for dinner, this would not be the first place to come to mind

Disappointing Food, Overpriced and Unkind Management

The food was descent at first, but still overpriced. But my experience with the manager (I think he was the manager) ensures that I never go there again. I had ordered a tomato/moz. appetizer and for main course said "shrimp scampi appetizer." The dish came and appeared to have 8 shrimp in it, and was served in plate smaller than any main course, which was fine. I didn't finish it (I think I ate 5/8), cause it was the kind of Italian food where the chef thinks throwing oil & garlic on something makes it Italian. But still, average, for what I thought was a 20-dollar appetizer. The bill comes and the shrimp was 40 dollars. I corrected the waiter and said I ordered the appetizer. Then the management got into a fight with us about it. Finally, they took 20 dollars off the bill, but made me feel like a criminal. And the worst part of it was, if there was a man sitting at the table with us, the manager would have never acted that way.

    back again

I love when my parents come to visit from florida...two things i despise, when they leave and having to go to thier rest. when they come up....the place must bring back found memories for them....but unf. the interior hasn't changed since its heyday...and waiters attitude has gotten worse since that too....the food is extra large, but that does not equal extra good...speaking of large..the check...eesh, i've spent less at higher starred restaurants and did not get a stomach ache due to ithe food, here a stomach ache due to the food and check.

    done the trick

I had the need to visit Pietro's once more. As an old time customer, the service remains friendly but professional. The Caesar salad was made to order, shells ala nat were a great appetizers shared by the table, we also shared a side of cottage fries that went along great with our steak. this is a great place when you have an urge for old time retaurant cooking, no health concerns, and the other urge was to go to the bathroom which i couldn't do, until after i ate at this place. cleans out your system better and more tastier than prunes

    diner

there are somethings i just don't get, karoke, the office and why this place is in business. if the staff treated their regulars as pooly a first timers, there would never be any regulars. caerars salad shoudn;t be overwhelmed by anchovies, meatballs and sauce shoould have more taste than the ones at your local pizza place, Salad Dana was delicious (one good thing) desserts are made elsewhere and tasted stale. you work too hard for your money to try this place...in a city with so many options, skip it

Good Place/Second review.. this one critical

My last review was All the Good things at this wonderful restaurant, especially the other-than-steak dishes (Veal, Fish, etc) that make it Superior. -- This review will be all the things I think need improving. Mainly... - 1. A previous reviewer mentioned the steaks "were cooked with a blow torch". This exaggerates but does point to a problem. The Oven is often Too Hot - and, ie, 'Medium Rare' is "Black and Blue". - There is a 1/8th inch thick searing and then Rare/Blue meat not even warm on the inside. No Medium Rare/RED (bleeding) meat to be found. This works fine on smaller Lamb Chops but better on steak or veal chops only if a 'Split' for more even cooking. (For the record, these steaks are the Primest of the Prime in quality). 2. Maybe a 3rd Lamb Choop for $45? 3. Go Easier on the Parmesan Cheese! - It's Overpowering in the (what would otherwise be) Carbonara, and even the Marinara sauce will leave a thick coating of it on your fork. Nonetheless they'll always offer more on the side. - 4. Needs better house wines by the glass. - - (speak/go to the guys at Smith&Wollensky whose food isn't as good but has 20 Great wines by the glass) 5. Needs at least small Renovation. Again the above were criticisms of a Really Good Restaurant.
