romantic and yummy - great combo
so my boyfriend came in town for a week and i asked around for little romantic italian restaurants, and this was the best one we found by far. it was a sunday night (but holiday weekend) and it was half way occupied, the servers were attentive and kind, and the food was so tasty that i need to go back as soon as possible! the vodka sauce was delish and even after i knew i could no longer eat, i had to keep stuffing my face so i wouldn't waste any of the amazing homemade pasta. i definitely recommend for a quiet night out for some awesome italian food.

Great little place on 9th Avenue
Went here one night and had a lovely dinner. The pumpkin ravioli was amazing! I followed it with a cinnamon gelato--out of this world. Service was attentive and I felt very welcome as a single diner. Would definitely go back.

Fab
Wow what a treat, I was a little skeptickle beacause of hearing and reading other reviews, but what a joy to find such amazing food at such a resonable price. The homemade bread was unblievable and the{ lamb menuatte } was to die for. The chocolate bodino was just out of this world. It's not just pizza and pasta---the daily specials were as amazing as my recomended dish, the only thing that was bad was we had to wait a little because we didn't have reservations, but we were seated and on our way in time for dessert and curtain call! My say is go,y ou need to experience it for yorself! but----one thing make reservations!

Feh!
The reviews were mostly positive, so we took a chance last night for a pre-theater dinner. How can an Italian restaurant receive good reviews when the bread was inedible? It's ironic since the restaurant is on Ninth Avenue which has a number of Italian bakeries. Even supermarket Italian bread would have been better than the bread-like substance we were served. That set the tone for the rest of the meal. The Caesar salad was below average, and the grilled calamari (although chewy) was probably the best thing any of us ordered. The pastas were blah - they seemed interesting in the menu description but were disappointing. I had the pumpkin ravioli and the only thing I could taste was the red pepper sauce - basically it was a plate that tasted like roasted red peppers and nothing else. The consensus of reviewers seems to be that this place is a good value, but if the food is below par the value evaporates.

Great food...
One of my favorite restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. I've never had a bad meal. Everything I've ever ordered on the menu has been great. The Pumpkin Ravioli is oh so good. I have always highly recommended Pietrasanta as I will continue to do so!

Consistent, Good & Inexpensive
You cannot beat the brunch....$9.95 gets you one of many choices, with a drink to boot! Very good food, decent atmosphere & service, a great deal close to the theatres. Highly recommended.

Still delicious after 15 years...
In my neighborhood this has been my favorite restaurant for over 15 years. When I first moved here, though by most standards the prices are moderate, I could not afford to eat here often. It was always on a special occassion. Now that financially my life has improved, I am tempted to eat at Pietrasanta several times a week. The minestrone soup is completely unique - the chef makes each bowl to the order - and it is unlike anything you will find anywhere else. The salads, particularly the daily specials that are topped with fresh shaved parmesan are always delicious, and the pasta...well...it goes without saying that the quality is amazing. My two favorites have always been the pumpkin ravioli in red pepper cream sauce, and the carrot ravioili in carrot cream sauce. When they arrive the portions appear smallish - but don't be fooled...the pastas are filling and delectable, and they are also homemade on the premisis. Another treat for me is their version of Balsamic chicken - sauteed with sausage, rosemary, white wine and vinegar. I have enjoyed the veal scallopine con limone several times...tender and slightly tart. The ambiance remains the same as it has always been - tables close together, but unlike other cluttered restaurants, you don't feel like you're on top of the next table, and the room remains relatively quiet even when there are pre-theater groups chatting away over a quick meal. They keep a good wine selection, and I recommend you ask the waiter for a recommendation, as there can be selections not on the list that are available and excellent. I have seen many of the waitstaff change over the years, yet there are still a few holdovers from the old days, however, even the new staff is attentive, well trained, and completely schooled in the menu before they begin to work. I am always pleased with my experience here, and providing I don't move and they don't close, I will eat here for many more years to come.
