    Dissapointing

I've been looking forward to trying Pies-N-Thighs for about 6 months. Today I finally visited for lunch and it was such a let down. Quite simply, the food was very average but very expensive. I had the $13 'fried chicken box' which consisted of 3 pieces of chicken, a biscuit, and 1 side ( i chose beans). The chicken pieces were ridiculously meager. I'm not exaggerating when I say I can get exactly the same thing for free at the Bobby Vans across the street from where I work...they put bowls of chicken on the bar on Friday nights. I had a soda to go with it, so including tip the bill came to just under $20. Aside from the size, the chicken simply wasnt very good. Perhaps its better if the chicken is made fresh..I was suspicious when my food was brought out roughly 1min after I ordered it. I'll probably give it one more shot, but from this visit it was pretty pathetic and I hope is a one off.

    Ha! what a joke

ok, so i happened into this place after a late night craving for some SOUL FOOD, and based off of some of the reviews I saw on this site..... what a HUGE MISTAKE! i ordered the catfish box with a side of macaroni. firstly, there are 3 very very small strips of under-cooked catfish, which i could not bare to eat in its entirety. the accompanying tartar sauce is watery and tasteless. then to the corn-bread; why bother?!? its a big chunck of tastelessness that is super dry. the macaroni is some boxed something or another with hotsauce sprinkled atop it. this mac tastes like the product of a pre-k science project. it seems someone rented out a cheap accomodation in an up and coming neighborhood, threw some groceries at a bunch of college kids and said "make me some money". a complete waste of time, money and energy. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. this mess is miscategorized as "soul food" because it simply is not soul anything.

    Disappointed

I was really looking forward to eating at this place. I did not have the chicken, like everyone recommended. I had fish and grits, something that I have been eating all of my life. Well, don't waste your $10 on this meal. The fish was not fresh and you only get a very small portion. I was looking forward to pie...there was none. The biscuit, while very big, was dry and I had to ask for butter. Tried the place but I don't think that I will be back.

    Pies ‘n’ Thighs

Pies that go straight to your thighs! Actually everything I ate here pretty much went to my hips and thighs! Sarah Buck, Carolyn Bane and Erika Geldzahler’s Pies ‘n’ Thighs does the two things in their name, just right. They make some really cool pies and a wicked fried chicken! Pies ‘n’ Thighs prides itself in serving up some good, down home, southern comfort food with Mexican and hippie influences. Don’t come here looking for dishes that are fat free but every once in awhile, an artery clogging meal like this, is so good for the soul. Do try their fried chicken, chicken biscuit, brisket sandwich and burger. You must try their flaky, buttery biscuits and the pies are all really good too. I especially liked their banana cream pie and they make a really good Brownie Sundae with homemade Macadamia Brittle ice cream. I wasn’t as impressed by their side dishes which sounded good but are very average in taste. Pies ‘n’ Thighs even offers breakfast and brunch. They don’t accept credit cards, it’s cash only. So you don’t have to travel too far South to get some really good Pies ‘n’ Thighs …..just to the south side of Williamsburg. Not impressed at all!

I was so looking forward to eat at this place. A big let down! The fried chicken itself was good, but no better than a chain chicken restaurant. Pies N Thighs sides are disappointing. The mac and cheese in one word is unappetizing. I cannot pin point what cheese and spice they add to it...but it is not good. Fries are nothing but frozen. And the pie leaves alot to be desired. However, the one thing that upset me more than the food is the actually people who own and run the place. If you do not like hipsters...dont go here. They are rude. If you want great fried chicken go somewhere else.
