    Great Addition to the Neighborhood

The food is excellent and the service quite competent. Not great to look at, but very pleasant and comfortable. One problem: ventilation. Your clothes always smell from the kitchen when you walk out.

Good eats - organics - expensive wine

This small, some may say quaint, restaurant on the west side was a good outing for us recently. They combine a deli/take-out on one side with informal, small seating area for the restaurant on the other side. Some of the dishes (perhaps most?) are prepared with organic ingredients. Our entrees were presented well and tasted very good. The value was reasonable, but not outstanding. We noted that the wine prices were on the high end - based on the type of establishment - about $8+ for a glass. They offer corkage; however it is $20 - enough to discourage the practice.

    What a lovely Servers+excellent food....

You have to wait more than usually for the food even though when the restaurant is not busy and some times (it happened twice to us) you do not get what you ask such as substitutions..... As the title said you have a great atmosphere, a lovely personal that received you very kindly trying to make you feel like you are at home, and the superb out-of-this-world FOOD makes PicNic Market Cafe the perfect place to invite friends.

    The Best home delivery experience

Had our first home delivery last night from PicNic and it was phenomenal - truly amazing. The cheese souffle was so well executed right down to the piping hot delivery in it's ramekin, the salads were fresh fresh fresh. The salmon was tender, baked to an unbelieveable finish (moist, yet firm and an excellent piece of fish to start with) with excellent black rice and the steak similarly executed in it's juices. The delivery man was very nice, and we noticed after he left our frites and soup were forgotten but we didn't care - everything looked and was so good. But PicNic did not disappoint - the delivery guy reappeared with the hot, crisp frites, the chilled baby pea soup AND to make up for our inconvenience, a box of cookies and 2 delicate strawberry mousses. All was excellent, and I went to bed in a food coma. I can't believe we could get remotely this fine quality of food delivered at home. I will gladly, enthusiastically visit the cafe next!

    Be sure to go in!

Great find! Food was excellent, and the quirky setting in the market adds, not subtracts. Sincere staff are committed and helpful. I suppose revenues are revenues, but BYOB really seems to go well with the whole experience, I'd love to see them preserve that option even once they get their liquor license.

A New Upper West Side Brasserie

A delightful, genuinely French brasserie, where the house specialities are truly special. I particularly recommend the choucroute, with its scrumptious wursts and bacon and the delightfully fresh peeky-toe crab salad.

Worth a trip, the food is great

The food was Great, and the waiters were really sweet. They don't have their wine license yet, so they ran out and bought a bottle for us. I would say that the food is french - the chef, Jean-Luc Kieffer came from Strasbourg - but mostly tasty and creative. It all seemed totally freshly made and organic. And it was fun seeing people shop for take-home foods while we ate.
