Place an order from home
Our entree were excellent. I had the chicken, my wife had the shrimp! They were cooked to perfection, doneness and taste wise. Our appetizer, ( the crab cakes) were two little dinky 2 inch disks, that tasted more like salmon cakes mixed with fish and some crab meat if any. They were bland but the sauce was really good (it more than made up for the blandness but not the size) We ordered dessert when we ordered our food because we took notice that on the menu it stated that the food would take at least 30 mins to prepare. We did so, so that we would not have to wait for our dessert.... The waiter or owner or manager, whomever he was never came back with our dessert! We sat there until closing (it was already close to) until we had to ask the bus boy/ cashier to clear our plates and where was our dessert? It was not even ready, they had to turn the oven back on! We waited politely and it finally came. Even with all of the waiting, almost 45 minutes just between asking; "hey were is our dessert?" and receiving the check, the food was good and our two servers seemed to be polite and were really trying really hard with the proper dining quips, like those you would probably hear out of a "How to be a waiter book" I only had about $60 bucks in cash on me (our bill was $74) So we decided to use a card and gave a $20 bill to receive change for the tip. We were only going to give 10% be cause of the long wait times that we endured... We were sitting for like 10 actual minutes and I finally asked the waiter where was my change and he is like Oh! I forgot. and had to go back in the drawer to get my change! Well so much for that tip. I hope they get their act together because despite the great food, the service that we had will prevent us from ever going back there and have us tell this experience with our friends who will not go there because of that.

A quick Bite
I think the picket fence is a really comfortable resturant, the setting of the place is very relaxing and welcomeing. Its a great place to jump in and grab a quick bite or an night of dinning. It also can be very romantic and Perfect for a date!Although Its comfortable, a resturant is really about the food, and i feel as though that the food choices are very limted, they need more variety i almost always get the same things. the drink selection is great i almost always get their wine. Also for the most part the service is usally good the waiters are very polite and patient(which is great for those who cant make up their mind on their food.) When the place isnt busy they food is great, but when theres a lot of customers the food tends to taste a little under cook. But over all there are some great meals and drinks, it all fun. very relaxing, and beautiful secenary, you should definitly stop by and form your own opinion, i might even stop by tonight!

Where's the beef?
I have poked my head in there many times and finally took some friends out to dinner on a Friday evening. Atmosphere is nice, warm and welcoming. However, the most important thing; the portions were WAY too small. My friend is 6ft 2' and 230lbs after 2 bites his pork chop was gone. For that price, they could have filled up the manhole size plates they serve on! I still have to go for brunch before I totally make up my mind about Picket Fences!

I always want this place to be just a little bit better...
I had high hopes for Picket Fence. It's exactly the kind of place I want to have in the neighborhood - good food, interestingly prepared, where you can get together with friends for a nice evening. I only wish it delivered on its potential. The room isn't comfortable - it's strangely laid out, with very little space between tables, and very small tables. The food tries to be a little bit better than it actually is, but I can even forgive that. But for heaven's sake, WHY is it impossible to get ANY decent service in this place? No matter when I go, I always feel like I could die waiting for a glass of water, or for my food to come. The place is rarely more than half full, and yet I ALWAYS wait 45 minutes for my food. The food isn't good enough to take 45 minutes, and it's usually prepared wromg - overdone, underdone, not the right order, but I'm never going to send it back, because I'm always starving by the time we get to that point. Instead, I just leave annoyed and disappointed, and don't go back for another six months.

poor service
everytime I've gone here, the service was slow, and unwelcoming. with that said, the food is tasty, and I recommend takeout!!

slow service
The food here is tasty, but the service is so poor you may get the urge to get up and start walking because it can get frustrating to deal with. Food is good if you don't get easily annoyed by slow servers!

Picket Mess
I've lived in this neighborhood for five years and I remember when picket fence was a novelty. The food has only gotten better, but the service is disasterous- messed up orders almost everytime we order out, service as slow as molasses in restuarant, and no one ever seems to care that it is taking so long to get the food- great food, poor service
