Great Bagel with a New York Attitude!

Ax out the attitude and this place would be a 10! When placing an order on the phone beware of the very unfriendly person on the other line.... Scary

    unfriendly

Save your money. I just went here not 20 minutes ago and received the poorest service I've had in a long while. First, after ordering a bagel, the worker refused to add a little hot water to a too-strong thermos of tea that i had brought from home, and would not say why. Second, the manager would not let me pay for my order until he had the paper receipt from the worker. I guess he thought I would lie about what I ordered? When I told him what my order was, he cut me off and said "You pay when I have the paper receipt from the worker, that's how it works here, okay miss?" Third - I politely asked the manager if getting a little hot water in my tea would be a problem, and he said "Yes it really would be, miss" without saying why. I told him this was the last time I would order from him again and he had the nerve to give me lip! I informed him I've been a regular customer there for months and his reply was "Oh yeah, well how come I haven't seen you then?" Probably because he never bothered to ever look his customers in the eye. The icing on the cake: the bagel was your average gooey freezer-aisle bagel.

    poor staff, ok food

i get deliveries from here all the time because the food is decent, but i always DREAD having to give the order over the phone, the guy taking the orders is SO unfriendly, rushes you off the phone very rudely, sighs rudely if you take a minute to think, and sometimes wont take your credit card if he's at all too busy. When I go there, the environment is just a plain bagel place, the staff behind the bar is always busy talking to one another. Just not a great experience.

    Great Food, Employees not!

Food is great, the people that work behind the counter can't possibly be any worse, especially the guy taking the phone orders!

    Great Bagels and more

Pick-A-Bagel has the best bagels, cream cheeses, spreads, chicken noodle soup, chicken cutlets, turkey, etc. in the area. It's not a bargain, but worth it for the quality of what you get. Any gripes about service and atmosphere overlook that we're talking about a bagel place and not a five-star restaurant. Staff has always been friendly and matter-of-fact, what more could you want for of the best bagels in NYC?
