Wonderful
Truly a lovely experience. It was our anniversary and we requested a quiet table and got one. The atmosphere is wonderful, as is the service and the food. The buffalo mozzarella appetizer was excellent. My filet was perfectly prepared and my husband had the veal special and he almost licked his plate. They brought out a special dessert for our special day. We will definitely go back.

Slow start, big finish
Went for valentines day and it seemed they may have tried to take more than they could handle so the start of the meal took to long but as things went on the food and service proved to be great. The price also seemed reasonable for the amount of food.

Very disappointing
My husband picked this restaurant for Valentine’s Day because of all the glowing reviews but the restaurant did not hold up to its reputation. The food in general was average and my entrée was actually inedible. I ordered the Pollo Scarpariello. The chicken was too tough and the sausage was not tasty at all. The service was rushed and inattentive. The head waiter serving us actually interrupted our wine toast to get our order. We were not asked if we needed anything and had to ask for water and bread. Our desserts came out and we had to get the waiter’s attention to order coffee which came out after we were finished with dessert. Generally I am not one to write reviews but had to write this one as there are plenty of other restaurants in this price range that will offer you a lot more. We felt ripped off.

Trust me this place is GREAT!
I cater for my own business and specialize in pastries and found this place to meet all my expectations. My boyfriend and I went here based on the reviews on here and loved it. Do not listen to those with problems because of the prices. If you want to be treated like royalty with wonderful food and great drinks this is the place, but of course you have to pay for it. We had the ravioli with truffle butter, I almost melted. (Keep in mind most of the ingredients are very pricey hence the food prices. For me to buy one truffle it can cost anywhere from 150-700 dollars depending on color and quality.) Then, for dessert I had the lemon tart, fabulous, while he had the caramelized banana tart, also great. For drinks we both had the espresso martini and being the picky people about our drinks we are planning a trip back for more.

worth the search
we really had a hard time finding this place but we had to go because a foodie pal said it was an unknown gem.The menu reads like the food is very tradtional but it was prsented with special touches through out, an outstanding meal from beginning to end.

one of my faves
This is one of my favorite Italian restaruants in the city. The food is amazing, the service is wonderful, and its a great atmosphere where you can actually hear other people talk

Service is Tops, But the Food...
Piano Due provides the kind of service which these "mini-fortune" meals in New York City warrant completely attentive yet unobtrusive, as well extremely kind and helpful. The kitchen even accomodated a vegetarian in our party by making a penne dish not on the menu, and also allowed us to get a particular appetizer dish as an entree. The waiter was exceptionally gracious and amiable. The decor too must get similar kudos. But the MAIN thing, the most important thing, the food...well, at this price-point, it is simply unacceptable. Bucatini which, on paper sounds delicious, is simply uted as dull tomato sauce with "pancetta" bits (aka ham chunks this was not pancetta in the slightest) other pastas lacked the requisite flavor expected at this price (one terrible thing is that the pastas, although listed at $15-18, are actually ~$9 higher in price if ordered as an entree. Talk about pretentious). at almost $30 bucks/a pop for pasta which can be made more robustly flavorful at home, it is a total con. If going here, I would only recommed the salads and scampi with lemon for appetizer, and then stick with the entrees they did have a solid balsimic vinegar filet mignon, along with some decent fish dishes. As can always be the case, do not believe the Zagat hype: this is NOWHERE near the best Italian food in the city.
