I read the previous reviews and was a little nervous about going since so many people had rude experiences. I got take out and everyone was very nice, a waiter even brought me a large cup of tea while I waited! I ordered Prawns with Seasonal Veg. and it was very good. There were not that many prawns but they were very large. I would recommend it.

The food is great -- very much like what I get in Hong Kong when I'm there. However, their low prices mean they are trying to make up on volume. Getting you in and out is of great importance to them. Their great prices are mostly as a result of them wanting to flip the tables as quickly as possible. For a romantic dinner, go elsewhere -- but for great food, go here.

Food is well prepared and tasty. But you get small portions of mediocre food, with unjustifiably high prices and poor service.

I was a regular and really enjoyed the food, but I got so tired of the bad service. The prices were great for what you got - authentic, fresh Cantonese food. My last straw though, was when I heard a female cursing and screaming at a patron to never come back to the restaurant. As a customer, when I saw another customer get treated like that, I couldn't help but wonder how valued I was, because who's to say that couldn't have been me she was screaming at? Yes, the food's good for the value but I'd rather pay a bit more and go somewhere kinder.

Phoenix Garden is the best Hong Kong Cantonese in NYC. I don't know what your experience has been but I have been a loyal customer of theirs for close to 20 years. Since the days of Chinatown. My children were practically raised on it and I am confident for many generations to come. Service albeit brisk was okay but the food is spectacular at these prices. Pepper Salty shrimp, Roast Squab, Peking Duck, and many seasonal specialties are my favorite.

The food is authentic, fresh and flavorful. The staff is efficient, even if they can't speak English. However, the management is not nice. They rush you, are condescending and do not acknowledge that they ever saw you before, whether you come twice in one week or once a month. So in other words, you don't feel like a valued customer - in fact, you feel like you're being granted a privilege to dine here. I was a regular customer and chose to overlook their attitudes because the food was good and it was right around the corner from my apt. One day though, they were so rude to a friend of mine that I had brought and I decided to boycott Phoenix Garden once and for all.
