Don't worry about the service. The food is truly fresh, well-prepared and delicious.

I've been a regular customer of this restaurant in all of its incarnations, Chinatown, New Jersey, East 40th Street, and was stunned when this BYO restaurant asked $3.00 for ice to keep the beer cold. What's next, charging for the ice in the ice water, or how about charging for the glass itself? Oh, the food (?), it's still good but not as good as when mom and dad ran the place.

I work around the corner from this place and get takeout pretty frequently. The food is less greasy than most Chinese places and is consistently good. I've eaten at the restaurant a few times and my experience with the staff has always been good. They're not overly friendly but last time I was there I splashed soy sauce on myself and the waitress got me a towel and some ice to help clean my shirt. I've tried a lot of the Chinese places in the area and I rank this among the best.

I went to this restaurant twice last year with my friend, and although the food is decent to good (although the portions are quite small), it was the extreme rudeness of the staff that allowed me to make the decision to never go there again. I remember I asked a few questions regarding an entree, and one woman (she wasn't even our waitress) yelled at me from afar. She said if I didn't know what the ingredient was, I shouldn't order it. Their behavior is unacceptable and I will never patronize that restaurant again!!!

Delivery was a bit slow and 2 out of 5 orders were well received. The roast duck and beef & broc. were good, but 2 chicken orders and the lobster sauce dish were not very good.

I am Chinese American and as soon as I opened the door, the fragrance was authentic Cantonese food beckened me. Other restaurants use too much MSG, oil and heavy sauces...but not so with Phoenix Garden! The decor is like a Chinatown restaurant and as is the service...but who cares, since the flavor is very good and the price is right.
