    Really good!

I went here for my birthday and it was amazing. Really great food and the best veggies I've had at any restaurant.

    Great for a weeknight dinner

I had the delicious shrimp and the steamed artichoke appetizer (cold) and my boyfriend had the lamb shank and the fried green tomatoes. The food was quite good (though not Iron Chef material) and it was a lovely night outside which made for great people watching in W. Village. I would definitely go back and try some different dishes. You could even make a meal out of the appetizers--there were so many that were delicious-sounding.

    Amazing food, atmosphere, and price!

I've had a great experience everytime I've come. The wait staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious - brunch especially, but dinner is good too. You absolutely can't beat the deal on the weekends - unlimited mimosas or bloody marys with pretty much any brunch entree, all under $20! The spicy chicken gumbo soup is a must-have, even if it's 90 degrees outside. You also get SPACE when you're eating, which is so rare in good NYC restaurants, and there's outdoor seating too. The wait is never too crazy, and they've been able to accomodate us even when I've shown up with 10 friends. It's my favorite go-to restaurant in NYC for any occasion!

Excellent service, the food is okay too.

Right up front- the service in this small restaurant is excellent. Really top notch, and they should be commended. My personal peeve (the tables being too close together) is *mostly* avoided, except for the tables on the perimeter, which don't allow for more than about 9 inches of space between the backs of the chairs of the adjacent table. The oysters were fantastic. The wasabi roe was a creative touch and the cocktail sauce was freshly made and delicious. My dining companion had the wild boar special, which was very tasty, but none of the specials had prices next to them. In the end he didn't think the tasty was worth the $26.00 they charged for the entree. Your mileage may vary, of course. I had the overstuffed chicken pot pie. My thought was "meh." It's undersalted (fixable, sort of.) and bland, needing a bit more oomph to really make it worthwhile. We skipped on dessert. I'd be more than willing to give it a shot again, to see if their other entrees are more to my liking, especially since the service was so nice. Now if they could just pull about 3 of those tables...

    BEST ambiance/food/service in the city

Philip Marie has become my favorite restaurant in NYC. The staff are all incredibly warm, friendly and helpful regarding any food or drink decisions. The atmosphere of the restaurant is absolutely lovely, and the people there only help to make time there perfect. I recently ate in the private wine cellar (for two) with my fiance, and I must say that their descriptions and pictures do NO justice to the experience. The wines paired with each meal were nothing short of superb; the menu options and flexibility left us stuffed--in a good way; and the biscotti ice cream is to die for. All in all, BEST RESTAURANT EVER. Seriously. Worth every penny--and you'll be sad to leave!!

    my new favorite neighborhood spot

my boyfriend and i discovered this place by walking by and reading the menu. there were only a few people in the restaurant, and a live jazz band was playing. we ordered the tomato and mozzarella for appetizer, which was baked to perfection. For our entrees, we both enjoyed the double stuffed porkchops with mash potatoes and broccoli, and finished off with tiramisu and peach sorbet. this place has a great atmosphere, the service was great (efficient but not meddlesome), and the bottle of Rioja plus some was just an added bonus. Definitely will be going to this place more!

    Very romantic escape

I reserved the private wine room for Valentine's day, and although it was a little pricey, it was definately worth trying it at least once. In a city like New York where you usually have the person at the next table listening to your entire conversation, it was nice to have some privacy. I also found the room to be very sexy and cozy. I surprised my boyfriend with it and he was thrilled. The food was delish ( we had a lot to choose from ) and our waiter Timmie was very capable and friendly. It was really a memorable experience.
