    Good experience

We had dinner here t night and were very satisfied. The only problem was a turkey soup that was inedible due to oversalting.I can't believe anybody in the kitchen tasted it at all. They were quick to replace it and we had 3 excellent entrees. The ribs were really good. Will go again. The busboys were particularly helpful

    Mediocre Food, Poor Service

I went to Philip Marie a few months ago and experience bad service and very mediocre food. The restaurant has received such good review that I thought I'd give it a second try. Unfortunately, the second round was no better than the first: the service was well-meaning but inexperienced, and the food again was just not up to par - a grilled salmon was indifferently prepared, and the grilled vegetables that were supposed to accompany it had never seen a grill but instead were sauteed without seasoning. The atmosphere at this restaurant is terrific; I just wish management would focus more on the service, and the executive chef would drop by more frequently to control the quality of the food.

    One of my Favorites!

Been to Philip Marie many times, and it is consistently excellent. Referred many people to the restaurant as well, and they gave it great reviews. It's our new "go-to" restaurant!

    subpar food, overpriced

We were excited to try this place based on other reviews, but the food was just not good. The fried green tomato appetizer seemed like it was prepackaged frozen, with breading that could break a tooth. We didn't eat the stuff (despite being super hungry). The fish dishes we ordered were also rather unappetizing. We picked at these, rather than starve. Although the staff was nice, they new nothing about the wine, except to recommend whatever was more expensive. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

    Mediocre Service, Mediocre Food

My party of 2 had an 8 o clock reservation. We arrived at 7:55 and were told to wait at the bar and have a drink because our table wasn't ready. At 8:25 I inquired about our table and it seemed the hostess had forgotten us. The waitress recommended that my salmon dish be cooked "medium". It arrived about as dry and tough as you can imagine. On a plate with enough dry mesclun greens to fill a giant trough. My partner ordered a second glass of wine, which the waitress completely forgot. There seemed to be more busboys than work available. On numerous occasions both our waitress and busboys lunged for glasses and plates that we weren't done with. I like the idea of this restaurant, but between the poor service and mediocre food I'm afraid I'll never return.

    A lovely outing

On a spring day (probably any day) a reservation is a must - friendly service, good food and very relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended.

My party of 7 chose this restaurant because of its advertised BYOB policy. The hostess confirmed upon making a reservation that the corkage fee was $7. When we showed up with wine, we were balked at by the waiters and promptly told it would be $15/bottle. After politely inquiring about the $7 promised, they left us sitting for 20 minutes with no service, finally sent the manager, who was extremely rude, unapologetic and uncompromising. We decided to stay against our intuition, and they proceeded to ID us and accused one woman in our party of being 15 years old (born 1994) when her ID clearly said (and she clearly looked) 26 - born in 1984. After really slow service for the rest of the night and much snickering from the wait staff, they added a 20% gratuity on our bill despite a note on the menu that this only applied to parties of 8 or more. I would absolutely never go back here and regret paying $35 for a mediocre soup/salad meal and my own wine. The food was nothing special. Crowd is old and atmosphere stiff and unwelcoming.
