    Nice Place in West Village

This is a great place in the west village to bring large parties to. I came here for my friends college graduation party, and we had great food, wine and service. Everyone was so friendly, and it wasn't too expensive. The pumpkin fritters were to die for!!

    Amazing

I invited some friends of mine here as a sort of farewell dinner before one of them left for Hawaii for the Summer. The service was outstanding, our waitress was very sociable and talked with us...but not too much, so it never got annoying. The food was great, and we didn't even spend that much money. We all had so much fun.

    Very happy!

The service made the difference here. We had a celebration lunch for three adults and one child. The hostess helped us find the best spot so the child would have extra room, and we wouldn't infringe on the other customers. When it came time for dessert, the child, who loves chocolate, was disappointed there was no chocolate ice cream. Yet, minutes later, chocolate ice cream appeared. That kind of kindness and careful service will bring me back again. The food was excellent and the restaurant was quiet so it was easy to have a nice conversation and be heard.

    Delish!

I work in the neighborhood but only recently tried this place for lunch. It was the first hot day, so I sat outside and could not have been happier about it! I ordered the salmon burger, which was so good, it's the entire reason I'm writing this review! My boyfriend had the tuna salad, which was tastey but the tuna was slightly dry. I saw a lot of sandwiches & fries that other tables were eating and everything looked good. It took a while for our food to come out, but I think I'll account that for a bunch of people arriving/ordering at the same time.

    Getting Very Good Again!

Philip Marie was terrific back when it opened years ago. Then as the Chef and his wife expanded their family and their number of restaurants they had, this place fell into the hands of managers who weren't paying much attention to the food or service and thing got lackluster, the food was carelessly prepared and much of the staff seemed distracted. Now, in the last two months that has changed: The pot pies have been plumped up and become more flavorful. The salmon and fish dishes are now fabulous and perfectly prepared. The pumpkin fritters, always a favorite with us are back to being robust and plentiful. Their vegetable sides: Beets spinach and garlic, etc. are some of the best anywhere, Everything is improved and we are thrilled. Their lunch specials are some of the best in the village, which accounts for the crowd there of, mostly it seems, advertising people from Hudson Street. Their home delivery is well handled and fast. We are so glad this place has returned to its original intention and execution of lovingly prepared high quality food.

Fantastic time and going back soon

My friend brought me to Philip Marie for dinner the other night and i was absolutely blown away. The interior is beautiful and we were seated immediately. I was surprised at how diverse the menu was while still being upscale. From buffalo slider trios with chimichurri sauce to the grilled herb salmon filet (which after debating on the 2 i got the latter). They had live music playing which kept us there much longer than i like to stay at any restaurant. We drank wine and talked forever. The staff was very pleasant and attentive to us throughout. Philip Marie is a gret place to bring anyone you would like to show fine dining in the heart of New York's village. I plan on going back until i know the whole menu to recommend.

    Very dark and disappointing

It's always a bad sign when it is so dark in a restaurant that you can barely see what you are eating. It makes you wonder just what they are hiding. This once delicious neighborhood spot is now mediocre at best. The chicken was tasteless and dry, the alleged spring water from the Philip Marie label was no doubt tap water taken from a nearby tenement. Chef and owner Greco was nowhere to be seen. Does he still oversee this place? It is unlikely that I shall ever return.
