Petrossian

Over the past few years , we have eaten at Petrossian many times--both lunch and dinner. Although inconsistent, we always found the food pretty good and the service attentive and professional. Our most recent visit, however, will be the last. The maitre'd was arrogant and insulting and rude. The first time I ever encountered this here, but enough to ensure that we will never go back.

Everything about this restaurant is deceiving. For them to be charging these prices and to have such a lovely location you would expect a wonderful experience! Well that's surely what I didn't get. First off the wait staff all look miserable. None of them have personality and rush you so they can be left alone to talk amongst each other.. The food wasn't good or bad, but for those prices I expect something rememberable. 39 dollars for a lobster risotto isn't cheap!

It's a unique and magical restaurant. The food is sophisticated and delicious. We enter this luxurious restaurant and precious as in religion. And when we get out it's with eyes full of dreams. Thank you so much. You're so unique.

Fifteen years ago we were regulars at Petrossian. Then the food quality and service deteriorated and we abandoned ship. Since then we have returned regularly every two or three years, and have always been disappointed. The room is beautiful, the food quality varies from mediocre to good, the portions are very small, and the service is poor. Unfortunately, this is a restaurant with a poor attitude, which is a great pity.

Nice atmosphere, good food, but poor service. Server spilled coffee in my food, mumbled "sorry" and walked away without even offering a replacement. That was after waiting an hour for the food. Will not return.

If you want good food in an excellent ,relaxing environment go here but, be prepared to pay for it. I am quite at home there unlike many other New York restaurants. You go to Petrossian for caviar and other Euopean specialites, but be prepared to pay $100-200 for lunch. Food is really quite good ( really,really good for America) . Wine list is very good and really no more expensive than anywhere else. I find the service as good as I have found in New York (which isn't up to world standards because they generally employ uneducated migrants and don't train them) . Polite and respectful staff who generally only need the most subtle signal as a trigger to do their job.

We had dinner at this wonderful resturant and the food was outstanding. I had the steak and you could cut it with a fork. The service was the best. They seemend to know when you needed something but did not hover over us. It was a most delightful evening. We will dine here the next time we are in NY.
