    Poor service - fantastic food

Well, the first thing you need to know before going here is that the hostess will lie about the wait time. You should immediately take what they say and double it. I was told 10 to 15 minutes, asked what the hold up was at 25 minutes and after waiting 30 minutes decided to walk out. I've eaten here before and the food is really good, but I'm not so sure it's worth putting up with their wait staff.

Love love the food, but sometimes service is slow

Love this place, love the burgers and omelets and salads and fries and EVERYTHING, but sometimes the service is really amateurish. Waitstaff needs a little push. Front counter take-out service is great, I'm only talking about at the tables. But I will continue to go back!

    How Rude

Petite Abielle as been a NY staple for me since I was introduced to it 5 or 6 years ago. Never again will I return. We stopped in for lunch the other day and after the waitress realized we were not ordering 'real' drinks her attitude totally changed. She then proceeded to ignore our table of two and concentrate solely on her two other tables, just 5 ft away from us. I sat with an empty water glass the entire time I was eating and when she finally came near us again we asked her for more--which came another 5 minutes later. On top of all this the food was sub par this time. Normally we love the calamari, the mac and cheese, and even the burger on occasion. This time we had a glorified ham and cheese sandwich that was very reminiscent of a cafeteria and some unbearably bland croquettes. After skimming through other reviews maybe we should have read before returning. Like another person said, I really hope the owner/manager realizes their waitstaff is killing this once charming and delicious spot.

Service is poor, Food is pretty good

I have been here a couple of times because the food is good. Unfortunately, the service is poor. Upon the last time I went, the service was so bad from when I walked in that I thought about walking out. I didn't walk out but responded by giving 0 for a tip.

    Wait staff embarrassment

Well this is the second time I've been in here and though the food is okay (not fabulous) and the service is fine - everyone works hard and runs around a lot - I was stunned when our waiter approached me when I was walking out and complained that my 15% tip was inadequate! This at a lunch bistro! I thought 15% was adequate for sandwich and a beer, and nothing special in the way of service. He actually pressured me for more money. Said that 20% was expected. I will never go there again, I found this quite embarrassing. I hope the owner knows his staff is behaving like this.

    good waffle, bad syrup

The waffle itself was nice but I was disappointed to be served maple flavored corn syrup in place of real maple syrup. And I thought the menu mentioned real maple syrup. Next time I would try another style waffle. My daughter had the ice cream and chocolate sauce and it looked very good.

    I love this Place..!!

I don't often write a review, but found it necessary to write one for Le Petite Abeille on 17th st.. The food was great, the service was excellent and I loved the atmosphere. A definate must for the mussels and the belgian beer. Evryone was very friendly and made the night even better.
