THE BEST MASHED POTATOES
I had the great pleasure to dine at this outstanding restaurant on 10/21/09, after shopping at Almondine and Jacques Torres. The food, wine list, service was not only outstanding it was fabulous. I enjoyed everything and the waiter was extremely accomodating. Everyone who works at this restaurant is extremely gracious and I can't wait to return. I highly recommend ordering an entree that comes with the mashed potatoes they were to die for!!! Can't wait to return in the very near future. Thank you to everyone who worked there last night.

A workmanlike repast
Nicely postioned overlooking the Fulton Ferry Pier and a panoramic view of Manhattan's Downtown Financial District, this restaurant provides pleasant, if not gastronomically challenging cuisine. Nice, neighbourhood homestead style atmosphere with folksy service, compliments an acceptable menu which covers most aspects of Italian/Brooklyn grub. If you try it you probably won't be disappointed but realistically will not claim an epicurean experience. But there again, this restaurant does not make this claim.

Great ambience, mediocre food
Recently had dinner at Pete's Downtown with my girlfriend and some of her family members. Overall, I'd have to say that the food, while not terrible, was pizzeria quality. I ordered the Penne Vodka (which, I know, is kind of standard) and my girlfriend had the mushroom rigatoni. What both tasted like was pasta with sauce. That's it. We had also ordered the mozzarella en corrozza, which was basically fried cheese. Overall, the food was mediocre, while being priced slighly above mediocre. Not terrible, but not great. The ambience, however, was wonderful. You're offered great views of the Brooklyn Bridge and lower Manhattan skyline. It's a nice view. Also, the service was attentive and friendly.

Great place to dine - great food/service
I was pleasantly surprised when my boyfriend took me to this little hideaway. The view was great, food was great and the service was also great. We got there just before a slight rush but we both had no complaints - food was delish! I had the Rotini Calbrese and my boyfriend who does not like spicy food loved his Shrimp Fra Diavolo (but he did ask them to not make too spicy). I would recommend to anyone.

Dinner Was A Delight
Going to Pete's Downtown for dinner this past weekend was a charm. The wait staff was courteous and helpful. The food was fantastic! Petes eluded a certain down home charm, and Being on the waterfront (ok across the street) made the meal seem more enjoyable, The quality of the meal outranked many more, more expensive meals I have had hear in the NYC. Petes is a great place to bring out of town guest for dinner and after dinner and desert, if you are still full you can head over to the pier for some ice cream!

I would return again
I used the Zagat review as well my friend's having heard good things as a guide rather than the only other review. I am glad I did. I was happy to find Mozzarolla En Corozza on the menu as I had not had it or seen it on a menu in years. I shared that along with the grilled shrimp with a pepper sauce. Both were great. For an entree I had the best veal parmigiana I have had in a long time and my friend had the Chicken Scarpariello which was also excellent. For dessert I had a very nice Italian cheesecake. This place was definitely worth the trip from Manhattan.

Come for atmosphere, not for food!
The illusion of 'neighborhood ambience' fails to distract one from the lower than pizzeria quality, yet exorbitantly priced, fare. While it may be possible to gaze at the Brookyn waterfront, sip mediocre wine, and wait for Godot but for god's sake, dont order the veal!
