Skip the bar!
Peter's restaurant is a nice quiet place for lunch or dinner. Its nice to watch the world pass by from the windows. The bartenders at the bar are rude, suprising since the waiter/waitresses are so nice!

A great choice for delivery
I go through periods at work where I just don't have time to cook a lot of my own meals. I count on Peter's for delivery a lot, and they have never disappointed me. I love their sandwiches, their sauteed spinach, and all their egg dishes. Delivery is very fast. Thanks, Peter's!

Mediocre at best
I went here with a friend for dinner one night, and I certainly wont go back. I had a salad and an open faced turkey sandwich, which were alright, but hard to screw up. My friend had a Ruben Panini, which was disappointing. The meat was unappetizing and he ended up throwing most of it away. It was also overpriced. I would definitely not recommend eating here.

Gluten-Free Goodness!
My entire family (six total) ate at Peter's a few weeks ago and really liked it. The food was EXCELLENT (both gluten free and non gluten free entrees). The atmosphere was fine, nothing special, but nothing to turn your nose up to. The front of the restaurant is open facing out to 1st Avenue, so it makes for some good people watching and has a pretty view of the Upper East Side. The service was really good I am surprised to see other people complain about the service. The price is fair for the portions they give you. The portions are gigantic! The main attraction to this place for me was the extensive gluten free menu. They have gluten free everything from pancakes to sandwiches to burgers to pasta. I was SO impressed by their menu [select]ions. Apparently the owner has friends that have Celiac Disease, and he makes most of the menu gluten free for them. I would give this restaurant an 8.5 out of 10 and I will definitely be back next time we are in NYC. I was very impressed! I only wish it was closer to my home in Connecticut.

good food, reasonable prices
I recently visited Peter's in April 2008. I found the food to be very good, with a diverse menu including a hugh amount of gluten free selections, the prices were very reasonable. I thought the atmosphere was quite nice, they have a back patio and a bar. I had lunch and dinner twice and would definitely go back on my next New York

Not recommended
I've been here twice and each time saw a dirty plate or glass. Based on this alone, I will not go back. The wait staff is out to lunch themselves. The pricing is fair considering the gigantic portions they give, and the atmosphere beats those of other brunch spots in the area. But said plainly, this is only a glorified diner, where you'd expect comfort food served in a clean environment with friendly, prompt service. Fails to meet even these minimum standards, and give you nothing special in any other regard.
