the steak is great, but you have to try the bacon. It's the best thing I put in my mouth in the last 10 years.

This place is amazing. The steak exceeded my expectations...I imagined it would be great, but it was something out of this world. The steak was SOOOOO tender, that it barely required chewing...and I dipped the steak in the melted butter a jus that they put under the steak and it was heavenly! Everything was delightful, the decor, the service, the old timey bartenders and the waiters. They were all old fashioned and understood the meaning of good hospitality. Our waiter looked like something out of the Godfather movies, like a barber shaving Don Corleone. The sides especially the french fried onions and the spinich were to die for. I also had the bacon and tomato onions with lugers sauce for appetizer and it was a culinary delight,. You must try those two appetizers. They might be very simple, but they do it right....The host was so charming,, crossing out names from the long hand-written list... We had 3 bottles of Shiraz that was great also. $450 for 4 people-definitely worth every penny. I would pay double to eat here again. As far as I'm concerned, they don't charge enough.

I honestly don't see how the place rates so high on best-steaks list (even when disregarding the value issue). It is a good steak and nothing more. There is absolutely nothing outstanding about it. It is not full of flavor, and I thought the hot plate serving was a terrible mistake, as the steak over-cooks in minutes. Not worth the trip to Brooklyn.

Went there last night for the very first time. I thought the food was good, but nowhere even close to the hype that it gets. Sure the steak was like butter and I enjoyed it very much, but at what price? The bacon strip was excellent and fairly priced. Also had the Caesar salad, not bad (but $8.95). Baked potato was so-so. The shrimp looked very good although I didn't have any. I think they should put prices on the desserts and the fish dishes. The people I was with had no idea that the shrimp cocktails were $16. Overall, I think its an upscale restaurant with very little atmosphere. It's more of a man's place and you go there just to eat. I don't mind spending my hard earned money for good food, but this was way overboard.

My Aussie husband said it could very well be the best steak he has ever had. Meanwhile, I am a vegetarian and left the place planning my next trip back. The food is glorious no ifs ands or buts about it! The staff was fantastic. We had an exceptional Australian Shiraz with our meal and left completely satisfied with the expereince to say the least. Love it!

If the perfect steak is what you are looking for then look no further. Peter Lugers steak was AMAZING. My fiance and I had a steak for 2 cooked medium, AND IT WAS PERFECT. The atmosphere was perfect for a steakhouse. Very loud and upbeat with no restrictions. You may wait a while ( if your able to get a reservation) but its worth it. Its all about sitting down and chowing down at this place. AWESOME!

My husband come here every year to celebrate his birthday. We are never disappointed. The bacon is to die for. The german potatoes are crisp and delicious. The porterhouse is like butta, and I am not a meat eater, this I can eat (devour)! The shrimp are huge, and the creamed spinach is the best. The drinks are strong and the service was great! The house sauce is awesome and so are the dinner rolls! We took home the leftover meat and the rolls and made little sandwiches for lunch. Pricey? Yes. But sooo worth it.
