Peter Luger Steak House

Yes, Peter Luger's is expensive. Quality and excellence cost money. I have been to other places......they do not compare! Peter Luger's knows how to prepare steak and provide a memorable experience. Although crowded, once you are seated, you are no longer aware of others. Our waiter has always treated us like we are his only customers. 1 jumbo shrimp cocktail, 3 slices bacon, 2 green salads, 2 sliced tomatoes and onions, 1 creamed spinach and porterhouse for 3, medium, sliced and served in its juices with 1 bottle of Chatenauf de Pape and 1 Brooklyn Lager is our typical order, followed by 3 coffees with amaretto and 1 slice of pecan pie with schlag! Yes, expensive, but the most delicious steak and sides ever. A memorable meal we all reminisce and talk about until we return. Not sure about prices of each item, but we usually pay about $150 per person, because we have wine and beer, plus tip. Always generously tip our waiter who does a wonderful service for us. The waiters always make you feel that you are their only table. Friendly and attentive. We have always lingered over coffee and have never been rushed out, no matter how crowded the restaurant is. If you want steak, Peter Luger's is your best choice.

Peter Luger is a bit out of the way but it is a go to destination in the city if you love steak. And they know how to cook steak! Steak is respected here. If you want a charcoal briquete, go elsewhere. It's a nice atmosphere but not fancy. The staff is very attentive. The chocolate mousse layered with freshly whipped cream is the best anywhere. I've dined here for more than 20 years and it's amazing how they maintain their consistency. They keep it simple and they keep it good.

The best I've ever had and I'm from Texas. I still remember Peter Luger's after 30 years ago when I only went once.

While the steaks are good they refuse to cook your steak medium, well, medium rare etc. The steaks come out red not pink all the time. When paying good money for a steak you should have a say in how you want it prepared to your liking.

I've been coming to Peter Luger's in Brooklyn for years and not once has my steak been "average" there is a reason why everyone goes to PL's and its because its the best! All the steaks I've had all around the world none compare. I'm planning my next trip today and happened upon this bogus review.

No flavor at all. The steak was subpar. Ok it was a porter house (half filet mignon/half strip steak). Can't ask for a better ingredient then that. But it tasted like an average piece of meat. I had to put salt on this meat just to pretend to enjoy it. I cook better serloins on my webber. The creamed spinach looked unappetizing and had no taste. The ceasar salad was decent. The bacon slice was the best part of the meal.

Anyone who thinks Strip House or Del Frisco's (seriously?) is better than Luger's steakwise is simply put... ridiculous. It's a matter of taste. Fact of the matter is Del Frisco's is overhyped and teh steaks are ok. POrterhouse, Keen's, Quality Meats, not to mention Bryant & Cooper, Uncle Jack's Olde Homestead and whole raff of other beef eateries blow Del Frisco's out of the water. What a joke? Strip House I'll grant you is good, but no Luger's.
