Overated quality
To be honest, they sure sell the sizzle not the steak. It was ok and I mean ok, definitely nothing special. Nice ambience great service; very disappointing.

Glad I gave it a try, but....
So after all these yrs my GF and I decided to try Luger's, given what we've heard about it. The good - the bacon was unlike anything I've ever eaten, the creamed spinach was perfect, the German-potatoes were outstanding. Our cocktails were excellent, as was the warm pecan pie w/schlag (never had it warm like that before). However, given how their porterhouse is the centerpiece of all things Luger, I have to say it wasn't the best steak. It was good, but I've had better steaks at Capital Grille and Maloney/Porcelli (I'm just saying). Although the butter-based broth was unique and tasty, the steak itself wasn't what everyone hyped it up to be. Perhaps this place gets too hyped up? I'm not sure. I do hope some day I have the chance to go back again, b/c I'd like to give it another shot. Regardless, overall it was a nice checkmark off the NYC culinary bucket list.

Still the best after all these years
We went last night, and we're still drooling over the experience. I don't understand all of the negative reviews about the place. The steak was a mind blowing experience, pure gold! The breads, french fries, spinach, sauce, etc were delicious. The waiters were friendly but not sycophantic, which is the way it should be at a steakhouse! This is not the kind of place to sip wine and look longingly into the eyes of your companion over soft candlelight We are there for serious carnage, not for empty niceties. We go there for the kill! No place like it!

Nothing special
I went to Peter Luger last night. I ate big bacon, steak, creamy spinch and German french fried. The bacon is delicious, big and thick. It is tasty. The steak is nothing special. It is a little bit burning. It is a little dry. I feel like if I make it at home, it will taste better. The creamy spinch is nothing special. I try the frozen cremy spinch. It tastes the same, not impressive. The German French Fried is burning. It is hard to eat. It looks like pan fried potates. Nothing special. In my conclusion, it is good to try why it is the number 1 steak house. But I feel like nothing special. The price that you paid for, it is not worth it.
