the steak was good, everything else average. the atmosphere was not great and I felt like I was being waited on by a used car salesman. once was enough.

Waiter refused to order me a steak for one and insisted on my sharing a 'porterhouse for two' with my boyfriend. Steak arrived out cut into pieces. Looked suspiciously like leftovers. Meat itself was mediocre. Have had better elsewhere. Also the filet mignon had obviously been surgically removed.

I took out a bunch of cash and took the trip to BK with great expectations. I left feeling cheated. The steak is good, but no better than other places in manhattan. The sides are not memorable, the place is rundown, and the servers are rude. What is the big draw? I will not be back.

We liked the steaks although we have had better ones in not so popular places. The service was fine until when we were almost finishing they told us to change to another table because they needed ours to set up a big party (they did not ask us as a favor but as a mandatory). They cleaned our table immediately taking out even the dessert we were eating at that moment. I complained about that and the maitre seemed to be even laughing (probably because I am a young woman and not a man in suit or similar). This is not a way to treat anyone. I had never had such a back experience in a restaurant in NY.

Just went there for my husband's 25th b-day and the steak was incredible. I've been to Peter Luger's in Great Neck and am no stranger to steak but the food here was definitely extraordinary. The restaurant's sauce is amazing and our steak was perfect. The only complaint is that the restaurant itself almost feels like a lodge in the mountains. I understand the old school and understated they're going for but I think it's time for an update. The service was good though certainly not superior and the waiting area can stand to be more organized.

i came here with my bf and we were a bit overdressed. not on purpose but bc we both got off work in our business attire. the steak porterhouse that we had was definitely over rated. i can make steak broiling at home just as good, if not better. our steak was burned and looked half eaten becaue they cut a big piece of meat up and split it into rations so if someone ordered steak for 4 they'd prob get the whole steak without missing pieces. ours was missing pieces but was still big. if it wasnt for the side of baked potato that i ordered(which was definitely nothing special at all) i would stil had been hungry after eating the steak with my bf. they say it should be enough for 2 people but it really wasnt. it was approx $80 for the proterhouse for 2... and it was big if u compare it to other places but def not worth the money bc with $80 i could eat many steaks at other palces. peter luger is overrated and cater more to families because you eat more steak if u go witha family. the server that we had was not particularly welcoming or friendly either which i accepted bc we were just a couple coming ot eat ...no need to hype us up the way they do to families. we had reservations ahead of time so we didnt have to wait when we got here. if you dont have resservations i dont know how they can get you a table unless you come really early before dinner starts. otherwise reservations are highly recommendedd at least 2 months in advance. i came to peter lugers on rcommendation from a high school teacher as well as reviews online that ranked it as the #1 steahouse in ny. definnitely untrue. the bacon slabs are quite thick and can prob give u a heart attack or a stroke on the spot. 1 slab is equivalent to about 10 bacon slices from a regular package of bacon purhcased from the supermarket. it is HUGE and when u see it you wont want to eat it. the idea of it just gives me a heart attack. soda was not worth it because they gave you those mini glass bottles which is ridiculous. youre better off drinking the ice water. when we left we were basically like invisible. nobody said anything to us, not even a thank you good night.

Went with my family, including 2 3/4 year old grandson, to celebrate my 60th birthday. Born in Brooklyn but never ate there. I had mixed expectations based on previous reviews, but we had a great experience. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The steak was wonderful. The spinach very good. The desserts were surprisingly good. One of my daughters doesn't eat red meat and had the salmon. It was a huge piece and was quite good. The rest was just ok, but who cares. You go for the steak, and our porterhouse for 4 was superb.
